Heather Thomson Instagram – Ronald D. Thomson — My Dad is among over 18 Million Americans who have served our country. These photographs were among his earliest possessions memorializing the start of his life, as a US Citizen. At the ripe age of 19, my father was drafted into the Korean War, not long after his arrival on the shores of Ellis Island from Scotland, where he was to begin his new life. The people who choose to serve our country today recognize their duty as a cause that is bigger than themselves. Tho my father never lost his love for Scotland, proudly adopting the nickname, ‘Scotty’, he was as proud an American as you could find. He would never talk about the war that gave him his citizenship and stole away his innocence. We must never fail to understand and to acknowledge the sacrifices and service of our military. Brave people truly willing to sacrifice something of themselves for a greater purpose under those who lead them. Without much more to say, as I look back, and look at today, I am turning my focus on love and gratitude.
