Two days ago we celebrated Lozen and Vittorio’s first birthday! It’s been flat out emotional how quickly they grow up, how proud we are, how we— as a family— survived our first year in a pandemic. We’re so grateful for all the love and support from family, friends, nurses and doctors even when our babies are more familiar with masks and Zoom calls than we are! We feel the love, they feel the love, and every day has been as exhausting as it was rewarding. Here are a couple highlights of our twins. ⠀

I could never have chosen a better Father for our children. Happy Father’s Day! And to my pops who taught me to appreciate the small joys in life ❤️
One of the most memorable nights Jerramy and I have ever had — talking late into the night with Marvelous Marvin and his wife after the Laureus World Sports Awards in 2018. He shared so many stories and so much wisdom. That night was truly a gift. RIP 💙

I often get asked by young players for advice on how to overcome adversity and get through challenging situations. Here are 3 ways I believe cultivate courage from within:
1. Write your fears down. The first step to overcome your fears is to shine awareness on them. Then, begin to be kindly curious and question where the fears stem from.
2. Reduce your stress levels. Movement. Let yourself rest. Meditate. Go for a walk.
3. Show up for someone else. Sometimes that’s what it takes to find our courage.

You can have many different mentors in life. Or you may be lucky to have only one. I had mentors that came and went at different stages in my life. Their lessons helped to shape me and never will be forgotten. None have been more impactful in my life then my mom and my Grandma. They each represent love, acceptance, and were strong women that didn’t fit into the categories society wanted them to, long before it was celebrated the way it is today. Both captained a boat, my mother was a black belt in karate and my Grandmother a speed skater when girls weren’t allowed to skate. They taught me to see myself as equal regardless of gender. They never backed down. 💛
Mentors are so crucial and that’s why I joined Mentorcam, to provide mentorship to others. I’ve been loving all the questions I’ve been getting and connecting with everyone brings me so much joy. Head over to @mentor.cam to learn more.
FINALLY!! So happy to announce my new @siriusxm Podcast “Hope Solo Speaks.” Lots to discuss on the USWNT equal pay settlement with my former teammate & friend, @carlilloyd First episode drops on Wednesday!

“There was never an ounce of professionalism displayed by any professional league that I played in, in America.” Intense new HOPE SOLO SPEAKS podcast – I’m talking NWSL with @jenkarson, director of @espne60’s “Truth Be Told”

This settlement is not a “huge win.” It’s heartbreaking and infuriating. A “promise” of equal pay from the Federation and backpay for a select group of players isn’t equal pay and it’s not what this fight was about.
Read the fine print. “Contingent upon the negotiation of a new collective bargaining agreement.” It doesn’t exist yet and is not guaranteed. If the players had ever been successful in negotiating an equal CBA, there would’ve been no reason to sue the Federation in the first place.
Six years ago, we started the fight for equal pay, something I’m very proud to say I led when I pushed to bring on a new Players Association Executive Director, Rich Nichols, someone I knew would truly fight for us and give us the tools to challenge a Federation that marginalized us for decades. His strategy to file the EEOC complaint was the boldest action any team had ever taken. It wasn’t an easy ask of anyone, and at the time, the decision went against the wishes of other players on the team now being called the “leaders” of this fight.
Throughout the entire process, Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan were the two most agreeable with the Federation and to this day, continue to to accept terms that are nowhere near what we set out to do. They both know this is not a win. They know it’s an easy out of a fight they were never really in.
The players who got us to where we are today are people like Christie Rampone who stepped up to interview with the EEOC. She and I were the only two players to do so. Players like Christie, Abby Wambach, Shannon Boxx, Heather O’Reilly, Amy Rodriguez, Sydney Leroux, Lauren Cheney, Lori Chalupny and everyone else on the 2015 team who set this fight in motion will not benefit from the selfishness and inequality of this settlement. It also guarantees nothing to the next generation of players. The equal pay case against US Soccer I filed on behalf of the Team long before the Team sued, still stands and I remain committed to fighting for all players — past, present and future.
Tomorrow 03/02 is National #DayofEmpathy and it’s our nation’s largest annual day of social and criminal justice reform action. It’s about closing prison doors and opening doors toward a future where everyone can succeed.
It takes all of us to fight for meaningful change so join me and show your support by sharing this video and texting EMPATHY to 97483. 🙌🏼

Growing up, I witnessed my father, a Vietnam veteran, experience the mental and physical challenges of homelessness. Yet, he always had so much love to give and taught me so many of my greatest life lessons.
Spending time with players at the 20th anniversary Homeless World Cup in Sacramento this summer was an incredible experience to see up close how football can transform lives. I’ve wanted to get more involved in the important work they do and I was delighted to be a part of the World United 5k run launched on Monday🌍I can’t wait to do more with the Foundation and already looking forward to next year’s Homeless World Cup.
Find out why I’m so proud to be a Homeless World Cup Champion.🏆
If you think the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team got equal pay, think again.
This is the real story of what should have been if the players had understood their leverage and stayed committed. Rich Nichols’ book: All Things Being Equal —The Genesis, Costs and Aftermath of the USWNT’s Battle for Equal Pay is a must read for anyone who cares about the future of women’s sports!
Thank you Rich for your tireless work then and your continued commitment now as a true champion for equal pay.
