Just a little reminder… ✨
Today was International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Did you know that this song was also sung by many as they both went into the gas chambers during the Holocaust, AND it was also sung as Jews were being freed from the concentration camps. This speaks volumes to never losing hope, no matter the circumstance. While in Israel I sung Hatikvah to commemorate 100 days of the hostages being held captive at the International School in Tel Aviv with my friend @ido.montaniez on the piano. Hatikvah translates to The Hope, something I think we all need more of right now. Please note (since I have been so disappointed in peoples lack of awareness, care and compassion today, and it seems that once again I must clarify and combat people misguided and misdirected hate)… just because I am mourning and grieving the suffering of my people does not then negate another’s suffering. I have hope (just as my grandparents fought for), that we will find safety, and people once more. I stand with ALL people. I stand for and with Israel always and that includes all innocent people from the region. My HOPE is that you will learn to stand with all people as well. #holocaustremembranceday #neverforget #neveragain
Often times we say we will create resolutions, but what about all the gifts we get to take with us? As we’ve now said goodbye to 2023, there are some lessons & blessings I’ll take with my into this year and I thought to share them… This was a very challenging year. One of the toughest. Though after coming out the other side I know it was here to strengthen me… therefore I wouldn’t change a thing. So… here are my 12 lessons for the last 12 months. I hope you reflect on your own too: 1 – Trust. I always knew & believed in this but I was reminded of this on a deeper level. Everything (even the painful things), are happening FOR US, not to us. 2 – After health issues/ injuries this year, I am also reminded that my body is a miracle (as is yours and everyone else’s), & knows exactly what to do to heal itself. 3 – A “no” can be the most loving thing you can say. 4 – To receive can be a beautiful act of giving. 5 – Slow down. You’ll actually be more efficient. 6 – I lost/ was close to losing many loved ones this year. & though cliche, don’t for a moment take for granted your time with your loved ones… you truly never know when it will be your last moments to love them in this form. 7 – It is okay to take time for yourself & be gentle with yourself if you’ve hit your capacity. 8 – Do not run yourself to the ground for anyone. Honor your time and energy. 9 – Anger was the emotion I avoided most in my life, associating with past pain. Though I’ve learned that healthy anger is an indicator of a boundary and it is there to speak to you. Though most don’t know how to express anger in a healthy way (as we’ve seen on the media as of late). 10 – Surrendering and accepting what is… as it is. Not from a place of accepting what is unacceptable but rather from a place of seeing where things/ people/ circumstances may not be acceptable for you, yet not trying to chance it to fit in your life if it simply doesn’t fit. 11 – Self honoring is not selfish. 12 – When we’re in the thick of challenge… I promise the pain is temporary. Keep going. Remember, we can’t see the light without the dark & these moments will further illuminate the light. 🤍
