The neglect & abuse is rife throughout & hard to stomach. 🤢 But, we can’t keep turning a blind eye 👁️ because we don’t feel comfortable with the truth… @nhsengland Jess (with her extraordinary creativity) finds light 💡 🕯️- her ability to create “hope” under such circumstances is admirable 🙏 * I implore you to read this book 📖 👆 NOT just because it educates on a cause I fiercely support #severeme BUT because it’s also a very good read 💙 💙 The pacing is on point while it confronts this dark side of our “care” system; characters are 3D & Jess (with the magic 🪄 of her voice 🎤 🎨🖌️👩‍🎨) represents those who desperately need it ❤️ * Jess is a fighter 💪 & refuses to be a “victim” but she’s in a vulnerable position & taken advantage of 😔 * My YouTube is called The Monster In ME. There’s something uniquely demonic about this neuro-immuno disease 🦠 … It keeps the victim prisoner & if you do NOT have “good” people (constantly) around you, it can be dangerous. Very dangerous. Jess is clearly blessed with a supportive family but when they’re not at her bedside 24/7, other monsters (sick bastards) see an opportunity. Sometimes the pain & debilitation is constant & severe with ME. Other times it has a propensity to toy 🧸 with ya… dares ya to attempt to live a normal (ish) life… tempts you to create a memory with a friend/loved one… then comes down on your soul like a ton of bricks 🧱 & confines you to the bed; inflamed & in agony 🔥😖 Jess had a flu-like illness 🦠 & never recovered like many #millionsmissing – history has been on repeat 🔁 for far too long #LongCovid #medicalmisogyny * From the walls of her dark bedroom she’s eventually taken to hospital; a place which is meant to help you heal… be safe… far from it… Jess is only 15 years old – she’s barely lived a life when she’s struck. There’s definitely a coming of age feel to it but not as you’d expect. The style is chatty & super easy to read! Jess should never have had to experience what she did in our NHS hospitals. At any age. No one should. Please read!
