Jess is clearly blessed with a supportive family but when they’re not at her bedside 24/7, other monsters (sick bastards) see an opportunity. Sometimes the pain & debilitation is constant & severe with ME. Other times it has a propensity to toy 🧸 with ya… dares ya to attempt to live a normal (ish) life… tempts you to create a memory with a friend/loved one… then comes down on your soul like a ton of bricks 🧱 & confines you to the bed; inflamed & in agony 🔥😖 Jess had a flu-like illness 🦠 & never recovered like many #millionsmissing – history has been on repeat 🔁 for far too long #LongCovid #medicalmisogyny * From the walls of her dark bedroom she’s eventually taken to hospital; a place which is meant to help you heal… be safe… far from it… Jess is only 15 years old – she’s barely lived a life when she’s struck. There’s definitely a coming of age feel to it but not as you’d expect. The style is chatty & super easy to read! Jess should never have had to experience what she did in our NHS hospitals.
