This pro eugenics law would stay on the books for 41 years until Black civil rights leaders helped pass the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965. That passage is what allowed my family to immigrate just a decade later. Make no mistake. Allowing anti immigrant racists to be successful again today will set our nation back generations.
