Juana Burga Instagram – Full circle moment, over five years after my first talk at Harvard University, this time i got to speak about my PERU book! Joined by great friends that helped me realise the project, @natalia_sobrevilla @juanaburga @dusty__lachowicz , we have Professor @ameriqo to thank for hosting us for this very special moment. We discussed the concept of Indigenous Futurisms and how our past informs and enriches our present. Mirroring my independent studies of pre Columbian Inca civilizations as well as Inca, Civil war period and beyond. Also, thank you to the General Council of Peru in Boston for helping make this happen and Minister Stella Chirinos for your kind words and attendance. Our hearts full with pride to see not one but two important Peruvian artworks in display at the prestigious Harvard Art Museums, Saint Rose of Lima, first saint of the Americas and Mama Ocllo, our first Inca queen. Harvard valuing the importance of art, they are leaders in the acknowledgment that if a society doesn’t help the arts, it hinders becoming a culture. Huge congratulations for Juana for her new film “La Piel mas Temida” being the #1 film in Peru today!
