Family meals are a cornerstone of Korean culture, where the table is adorned with an array of small dishes (banchan), showcasing a main course often barbecued meat cooked on a grill built into the table.
One of the favourites is kalbi (marinated beef short-rib), which is not just a meal, but a convivial experience, bringing everyone together. It’s served with lettuce or perilla leaves (ssam), allowing everyone to wrap their meat with rice, kimchi, ssamjang hot sauce, or their preferred sides.

Had an absolutely stunning evening at Juno, a hidden Mexican Omakase counter on the top floor of the famed Los Mochis restaurant in Notting Hill.
15 courses of the freshest fish accented with traditional Mexican spices and ingredients. I even ate dried and ground-up flying ants and crickets— full of umami apparently (I’m still very much on the fence about eating bugs… ). The fish was sourced exquisitely; we indulged in chutoro, boton ebi, hotate, otoro, caviar, wagyu and more! The wagyu as shown here was coated in seared and melted bone marrow for an extra meaty and slicky finish. With only six seats at the counter, Juno, really is a special and intimate affair… and one of the highlights is that you can have a bona fide great margarita too!
And, Chef Leonard escorts you most passionately through his menu with grand aplomb! His love and dedication is apparent in every bite.

Dive into my latest cooking video where I blend the rich flavours of Korea with the classic French mussel dish, introducing my fusion creation: Doenjang and Gochujang Mussels.
Starting with the French tradition, I kick off with sautéed lardons (or bacon) to create a sumptuously rich base. Next, a generous amount of garlic and shallots join the mix, followed by the unique twist of sake and mirin for fragrance.
Chicken stock creates the perfect broth, setting the stage for the stars of the dish: doenjang (Korean fermented soybean paste) and gochujang (Korean fermented chilli paste), bringing an unmissable Korean flair and umami to the mussels. So tasty and the broth is so yummy to soak up with a piece of crusty French bread.

Ellen Chew has done it again! Ellen @ellen_chew is probably one of the most undercover yet prolific restaurateurs in London. With 11 restaurants across 6 different brands (including Mrs Chews, Rasa Sayang, Lobos, and the totally famous Arôme Bakery— my fave @aromebakerylondon ), Ellen is a force in the London hospitality scene. Now, just opened is her shiny Singapula venue @singapulah_restaurant on the foot of London’s Chinatown. Singapula is a a love letter to her native Singapore, showcasing the very best dishes and products imported from this small nation known for their fiery chili crab and aromatic laksas.
I brought fellow foodie and Malaysian friend along to nosh and he was impressed by the authenticity! Highlights were the Kurd Pie Tee— a delicate thin tart shell filled with seasoned turnips, prawns, and peanuts, and the fried chili crab baos to start. The stars of the evening though were the noodle dishes— hot tangy broths full of toothsome moreish noodles, and studded with savory juicy fish balls and gems from the sea. I washed it all down with a totally satisfying coconut shake (I’m obsessed!). And to finish, my Malaysian friend had the best durian ice cream he’s ever tasted.
Downstairs there is a secret private room hidden behind a door of shelves filled with vintage Singaporean kitsch. I immediately recognized rolls of Haw Flakes… and packs of tissues traditionally used to reserve tables… a super fun stroll down memory lane! (designed by Ellen’s partner, Tiffany)
The venue’s decor, split over three floors, is very vintage, Wes Anderson-esque, full of floral tiles imported from Singapore and little details that make you feel like you’ve hopped on a plane and landed in this island nation. Ellen’s attention to detail is apparent, and the love and passion behind this project comes singing through the food she is serving.
I hope I can get in again soon! The line stretched around the corner last time I walked by. I’ll be dreaming of the chili crab until then…

It was a huge honor to speak @stanford university at their Korean Food Gone Global conference. I learned so much from the prestigious academic panelists and was so inspired by my co-keynote speaker @suyoung_ryu. Ryu is a prolific actor in K-Dramas / Movies and most recently known for his starring role in Bloodhounds. As his “side gig”, he is passionate about food and has a viral cooking show— he is getting Korean men into the kitchen learning how to cook! What a feat! He also focuses on creating simple meals on a budget, accessible to everyone.

Easter is almost here! I was lucky enough to celebrate it early with a gorgeous dinner hosted by two of my favorite chefs @chefrohitghai and @pierremarcolini at @kutirchelsea . It was a celebration of color— the vibrant colors of Easter and of the Holi festival and brought together through the glorious flavors of Chocolate and Indian food!
Chef Rohit is behind some of the most famed Indian restaurants around the world— I am a frequent guest at his @manthanmayfair where I’m known to smack on his truly addictive jackfruit uthappam and spicy Ghati Masala prawns.
And, I still remember going to @pierremarcolinihimself shop in Brussels when it was the only one in the world! Now, his empire spans from Seoul to London.

My make up artist @floby1 matched my colors perfectly and i walked out of the store feeling gorgeous! I am in love with the tinted foundation cream and miracle balm— which I use on my lips and cheeks. So easy. I’m always in a rush so I like that everything can also be applied with your fingers and you don’t have to bother with brushes.

Whip up these Mung Bean Pancakes for a traditional savoury treat. I have so many memories eating these totally addictive pancakes in Gwangjang market in Seoul.
Packed with flavours from finely chopped cabbage kimchi, spring onions, and red chilli, these pancakes are a classic in Korean cooking. I like to add some pork for extra savouriness, and it’s all held together with blended mung beans for a crispy yet soft texture.
The accompanying dipping sauce, a blend of soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, and gochugaru, adds the perfect tangy and spicy kick to complement the pancakes.
Serve these pancakes hot with the special dipping sauce for a delicious fusion of flavours.

Hailing from the great state of New Jersey– I grew up eating buffalo wings.
There was even a buffalo wings site on campus at my college in NYC called Pluck U. (who else remembers this chain? It was started by Columbia and NYU grads). It was open late, and our go to place for midnight munchies!
And, yes they do come from Buffalo, NY, a city upstate known for their bitterly cold winters and their nuclear hot wings.
Here, I have twisted up the traditional Buffalo wings with a fusion of East meets West. Believe me, I am a mega fan of the original wing slathered in Frank’s hot sauce. But, these Korean-esque wings are drenched in a delectably spicy gochujang based hot sauce, offering a more earthy and umami flavor.
With the perfect balance of heat, tang, and a hint of sweetness, each bite is an adventure in itself.
