RATIFIED. I took this photo late on Day 118, 11/8/23, the day the strike was suspended. I wanted to capture, head to hip, what had become my daily uniform as I captained at Disney – hoping (and waiting to post) that this would be my final outfit of the action. Hat, lanyard, tshirt, buttons. BRACELETS. I am exhausted and elated and joyful and trepidatious one month later as I hit “Share”. I’m glad I wore the shirt that said SAG-AFTRA STRONG that final day. For even on the darkest, lowest, hottest, windiest, coldest days, the days when we felt most dejected, forgotten and lonely, returning to “work the lot” surrounded by the members who came out to find a shared community, offering hugs or shoulders to cry on as we carried signs and spoke from our hearts, lifted up my spirits and showed me daily that we are STRONG. To EVERYONE who supported and showed up and sent donations and offered love during the strike of 2023, this victory is also for you. 78-22% voted to approve the three year contract. And YES this is not perfect. There were lives that were forever altered that cannot be forgotten. There were boots that hit the ground that must remain engaged. Remain strong. Because we have work to do.
