From the moment I learned Elenni was pregnant- I became obsessed with making a proper, buttermilk biscuit for my Grandbaby – As a child I sat, silently, watching my Grandmother work the dough, cut it with a jelly jar then golden warm goodness would emerge-Grandmothers biscuits, a metaphor for the luxury of time for sacred silence sifting kneading care love. about 20 years ago about a dozen Black girls 2 dozen @missgetemgirl cupcakes saved me from despair in the form of a mentoring group✨Salon du Shine✨ 10 years ago for my 50th birthday they presented me with this tribute. Today I met a Black Cowboy with a 90 acre ranch, 27 years he’s hosted a Black Cowboy Festival, 3000 people came to Rembert SC this weekend, on this land he now owns shares his wife’s ancestors were enslaved worked to death. Yesterday I went to an Iris Festival at Swan Lake, smelled the summers first magnolias met a swan named Sue. Friday my sister friend family celebrated her son, a Sumter High scholar prom king.
