This is by far one of the scariest and most vulnerable things I’ve ever shared/posted. But living in truth is freedom…. and when you’re free you give agency to others to live freely with the strength it takes to be transparent. Didn’t happen overnight at all! Almost 2 years ago I decided to radically change my life and live the fabulous life of sobriety. Drinking alcohol was the one thing I knew I had to sacrifice to truly walk in the best version of myself. And now feeling safer and more confident, I’m inviting you guys to be apart of this journey with me. There are sooooo many questions around sobriety… how do you live in one of the craziest cities and stay sober? how do you date? How do you socialize? What do you do for fun? Vacation? Live and Love Honestly? How do I make amends for old toxic behavior? How do I accept my body as it changes? What about faith? I’m telling you it’s an exciting and oftentimes challenging journey of self exploration…. Returning to yourself and growing into someone brand new all at the same time! There’s too many millions of people suffering with this transition silently…. So, I have to share that… With a lot of trial and error, I’ve found one very thing to be true…. If you’re struggling, there’s light at the end of the tunnel…. And I hope to shed light on the fact that I’m now literally living dreams I’ve always had for myself…. Living in the most loving season I’ve ever had for myself…. And it’s quite fabulous!

What an honor to visit @munaemexico this past weekend in my beloved Mexico City…. I met @grafica_mexicana_ the grandson of Jose Sanchez who worked with my grandparents, esteemed artists Elizabeth Catlett and Francisco Mora during their time working with El Taller de Gráfica Popular. We spoke briefly on legacy and cultural inheritance. I was so proud to see my grandparents honored in this powerful exhibition of their print work. Especially proud of my grandmother, a black woman who broke boundaries by becoming the first person who earned a Master’s of Fine Arts MFA in the United States during Jim Crow America… she is now recognized a celebrated Afro-Mexicana and both my grandparents now as national treasures of Mexico. I am beyond proud to be their descendant and hold this legacy. I learned so much about myself on this journey and have embarked on a new season of self discovery in doing so. Perceiving my grandparents, their work and myself through a new lens of great brilliance. I also want to thank my father @f_moracatlett for facilitating this exhibition and supporting me in my journey home. It was also beautiful to see my grandmother’s work being published on the new book by Tiya Miles. @tiyamiles Thank you @nonchalantlabel for dressing me for this prolific event.

“Diarra From Detroit” created by and starring my friend @diarraoni !!! ALLERT: LIVE REACTION!!! Guys, it premiers TOMORROW, March 21st on @betplus …. Diarra i am profoundly proud of you! I cannot wait to watch this whole season of magic that you created for us to all play in. Thank you for inviting me to come be apart of it! Growing as a performer and transitioning into a different form of artist in front of the lens has been so literally transformative for me… this model turned actor girl…. And you had me part of this magical experience that ushered me into the Screen Actors Guild…. You’ve shown me what is possible and I am grinning from ear to ear with joy for you…. And I can’t forget to mention @milesorion1 for his incredible contribution as show runner! To all my fans and followers…. You guys have to watch the show to see what episodes I’m in.
Exciting thing about sobriety… finding other ways to have fun. It’s an exploration! It definitely takes some time to build healthy new habits, but one thing I’ve come to enjoy is being with people I love and care for and eating delicious food… Dining out in NYC is a favorite for me, and I have a lot of fun trying MOCK TAILS. Helpful hint… you can always ask the bar if they can make any of the traditional drinks without alcohol. It’s often times a dance between it being just juice… or a new and flavorful concoction of aromas you’ve never tasted before. At @RucolaNYC I tried the Apricot & Thyme Bee’s Knees mock tail version and it was a refreshing pairing for the Pomegranate and BloodOrange Scallops. Would you guys try it? Shout out to my bestie @brave_birdie for being awesome! My outfit was also from the Cobble Hill fashion staple @shophausofhanz … dress by Shona Joy.
WATCH TILL THE END… Kara & Danny! I had to capture these gems…. So i literally love when people stop me to say hello! It means the world to me and brings me so much joy that i could brighten up someone’s day! You guys have all held me down and supported me so much throughout my career and it’s people like Danny and Kara that I continue to push myself to grow and expand as a human being. To be able to touch hearts is the biggest accomplishment I could have ever dreamed of! Thank you both for inspiring me with a simple hello! And thanks for allowing me to capture these moments! And thank you @themallatmillenia for hosting me for a fabulous private shopping tour! @experiencekissimmee
