Rashida Tlaib Instagram – (News & Information Only) Early this morning, Wayne State University police 12 Pro-Palestinian protesters while dismantling a tent encampment at the university. The operation, which began around 6:00 a.m. with support from Detroit police, has sparked controversy due to allegations of misconduct involving the removal of a student’s hijab. Among those arrested was 19-year-old girl from #Dearborn. U.S. House Rep. Rashida Tlaib and some of the victims family members allege that police officers forcibly removed victims hijab, an Islamic headscarf, during the arrest. Video footage obtained by TCD News shows a young woman without her hijab, handcuffed and sitting on the ground, as an officer attempts to place her hijab back on to her. In response to the incident, Wayne State University has announced an investigation. The incident has drawn significant concern and calls for accountability from community leaders and activists. Wayne State University officials have yet to provide further comments on the investigation.
