Sunday’s episode was incredibly powerful with Troubled Teen Industry survivor @megappelgate of @unsilenced_now. We’ve briefly mentioned TTI and some stories in passing over the years, but since April is Child Abuse Awareness month, it needed its own dedicated episode.
As a young, totally normal teen, Meg was abducted from her bedroom in the middle of the night and flown across the country to begin what would be the next 3 years of her life in a “therapeutic boarding school”.
The abuse these children endured reminded me of the Cadet camps we heard about in our Scientology stories!
It’s a hard episode, and I was definitely brought to tears as a mother and as a 90’s kid who grew up watching these kidnappings become normalized on daytime television.
Please use discretion, I know this month is filled with lots of triggers and I want you to protect yourself and your mental health first. ❤️
