One of my absolute favourite photos of my Papa. 💚 Taken in Manyara NP, Tanzania, in the late ‘60s – where he did his initial groundbreaking research – with the lovely Virgo, an irrepressibly curious and friendly female who was part of the great Boadicea’s family.
Tomorrow …. 🦍 🦍 🦍 Celebrating fifty sparkling years since Frank popped into the Universe, and almost 20 years of that together. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Such an itchy bottom!! A warthog making the most of our rough stone wall, outside my office window this morning! 🤎 Thanks for the video Lilly!
My parents on their wedding day in Scotland, on the Isle of Raasay. A bond that has lasted a life time, and seen them through a thousand adventures. There is so much love in this moment and I feel so lucky to have been born of this exceptional pair bond.
URGENT!! The distressing news has reached us from Arusha sources that another elephant hunt has commenced in the Enduimet area in northern Tanzania where many of the Amboseli elephants frequent. This comes just four weeks after the third male elephant was killed in the same area and despite all our collective efforts to put a stop to it. The Governor of Kajiado County has voiced his concern on this, and we now urge Kenya’s other leaders and people to urgently speak out and put an end to the killing of the Amboseli elephants by trophy hunters in Tanzania! PLEASE help us stop this madness! Sign our petition if you haven’t already – link in bio, and get the news out as widely as you can.
Am full of admiration for the Herculean efforts of the gorilla conservationists in Rwanda, Uganda and DR Congo, that brought these beautiful creatures back from the brink. From an estimated low of 250 in Dian Fossey’s time to over 1000 today (last census of 2016). Am deeply impressed also by the guides and trackers we’ve met – their discipline, passion, and profound respect for the gorillas, sharing this magical experience with such grace and sensitivity, and recruiting in turn hundreds of new allies each day from around the world. A conservation triumph at every turn! In the divine presence of Silverback Uguranga from the Hirwa group.

Sun sets over the volcanoes – Mikeno, Karisimbi, Bisoke, Sabinyo, Gahinge and Mohapura – in a resplendent finale. Followed by a rowdy game of gorilla chess at Virunga Lodge (which I won! Haha!!), a bottle of champagne and special celebratory dinner. Three days of magic with the love of my life. Even though he thinks I’m horribly smug about winning! ❤️

A blissful morning on Bisoke volcano, with a decent hike that just missed the rain … chillin’ in the splendid company of Titus’ family, led by this superlative Silverback – Pato.
My grandfather. Commander of Edinburgh’s 603 spitfire squadron in the battle for Malta. Forever loved. Forever missed. We will never forget your sacrifice. 🌺
My eldest daughter Selkie started a GoFundMe page this week to raise money for the worst hit flood victims in Kibera and other affected areas of Nairobi. All the money is going to support SHOFCO who are doing incredible work on the frontline. We’re now almost at GBP £3000! THANK YOU all SOOOO much!!!! Please keep spreading the word and holding Kenya in your hearts. Link to donation page in BIO. A cyclone over the Comoros is now coming our way, adding even more rain to what is already catastrophic levels. I’ve never seen weather charts like this.
Pure joy! 💚💚💚💚 On Mt Karisimbi this morning, falling in love with one of the babies in the Susa family. 📸 @sabadouglashamilton
