Sarah Drew Instagram – Some musing on rejection… as actors, we have to make ourselves vulnerable and open hearted in order to do our work- sometimes I feel like we need full body armor because 99% of the time we are rejected. Truly 99%. And being rejected over and over again when you are vulnerable and open hearted hurts. But we have to stay open hearted because we can’t do the work if we aren’t. The heartbreak is real. Rejection stings. Doesn’t matter how long you’ve been in this industry or how much success you’ve had or haven’t had. It sucks every time. I feel like this is a universal human experience. Whether it’s related to career, life, love or family… etc. Rejection hurts. But it mustn’t shut you down. Your open heart and your vulnerability are your greatest assets and your greatest gifts to the world. No matter how many times you are thrown down, you have to get right back up and try again. And again. And again. Because you are a gift. So that’s where I’m at this morning. Yesterday hurt and today, it’s time to try again. ❤️❤️❤️ to anyone out there feeling the sting of rejection today- I see you and I love you.
