Moments captured while hosting the @missmovolpageant this weekend. While it’s always great to be back in Missouri, I was especially grateful for this trip… mostly to enjoy my mom’s super special salads that are “made with love.” 💕 Congratulations to the new titleholders!! It was another fantastic pageant with exceptional young ladies competing!! I know the girls wearing the crowns tonight will make our state proud at nationals! #missvolunteeramerica #missmissourivolunteer

Anyone else wine and cheesed out?? It’s this time of year where between the 26th and the 31st, it’s all one big blur and then suddenly it’s the last day of the year and you really double down on the cheese and wine but only because you made lots of New Year’s resolutions about cutting back on cheese and wine so you have you last big push to make it to the next year. So que sera… I got this. 👊 Final push till 2024 and all the resolutions!
Today marks 21 days of fasting (led by our church) coming to a close! 🙌🏻 We gave up coffee and wine and breakfast and lunch… and just had one meal a day, dinner. To celebrate the end, we gathered with our small group from church for a giant FEAST! And delicious WINE!! And let me tell you… it was GLORIOUS! But, there was a moment when we wondered if we would even be able to get out of our driveway, due to all the snow and ice still lingering. Thanks to Ben’s giant truck and staying off of our driveway, WE MADE IT! 🙌🏻

Where I go… they go.
Entering 2024 with a very full heart. I’m constantly reminded of the blessings in our life but perhaps one of the greatest blessings was packing up and leaving Los Angeles (after having lived there for 16 years!) and relocating to middle Tennessee. The deep friendships we’ve made here are truly more precious than jewels. Life runs at a slower pace. There’s time for deep, meaningful connections. You aren’t in such a rush to get to places or do things. You’re ok driving 15 mph behind a tractor 😜 because you know he’s just doing his work and you’ll eventually get to where you are headed. There’s space! Space to breathe… to roam… to get lost and to find yourself. We are starting this New Year with a 21 day fast, lead by our church. 21 days with no coffee, no wine (no fun?? 🤣) and just teas and juices all day till dinner time, where we will have one meal (mostly plant based with some fish). This time is used to pray and connect with God on a deeper, more spiritual level. Very excited to experience this with my husband, our closest friends and our church community! Many blessings for a healthy and happy year ahead!

So blessed to spend a few days with friends, touring @arkencounter in Kentucky. Touring the Ark, petting kangaroos, swimming… so many things! But when we asked our kids what their favorite part was they each said “playing with our friends!” 🥰 I love creating memories like this… ❤️

The saying “it takes a village” became truth to me in 2016, when I joined a mommy & me class with baby Finn. That’s when I met these girls. Over the last 8 years, we’ve experienced all of the highs and lows of parenting together… and truthfully, I don’t think I would have survived with any amount of sanity if it wasn’t for our friendship. This is a group of women who truly hold space for eachother… space to vent, to ask for advice, to share the humors or frustrations that come with “adulting.” And this weekend was the first time we have ever met up without our kids, for fun adult time… IN VEGAS!!!!! We slept in (whaaaaat!?), we ate good food (while it was still hot!… mamas, you know…), we laid by the pool (without having to help a kid swim), we stayed up late laughing (without the fear of early morning adult responsibilities) and….. we went to MAGIC MIKE!!! 🫣 (side note… they brought me on stage to sit on a guys lap while he drummed… for an uncomfortable amount of time. I’ll spare you the video, but here’s a pic of them leading me up. Sooo embarrassing. 🥸) Oh! And what a sweet ending to our time together… two geese had their babies out for a stroll on a very busy road and some super kind taxi driver was helping to make sure they got to where they were going safely.

Today is Day 1 of our 40 day Digital Detox lead by our church. Had to make a final post before going silent so I dont come back from the break to a bajillion messages asking if everything is ok and why am I not posting. So here it is. We are disconnecting from social media, television and basically any digital device that is a distraction from LIFE for the Lenten season. We did this for the first time last year and were amazed at how our kids chose to spend the time… outside in nature, building forts, creating art projects, using their imaginations… learning, exploring, creating. So we are thrilled to see the connections that come from these 40 days. More time with friends, more time talking and connecting, more time reading and relaxing. I’m sure I’ll be back with lots of pics when all is said and done! Till then, if you need me, send an email or call me. X
