One of the youth shared that they don’t like hearing they are the future, they are the NOW and have a lot to say. 🔥 Girls Leadership is the only organization that exists solely to provide girls and gender-expansive youth with the internal skills that form the foundation of leadership. This celebration marked the official launch of their groundbreaking research study on the leadership of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) girls and gender-expansive youth in the U.S. In collaboration with Evaluation Studio and the Girls Leadership’s Youth Research Council (YRC), has released this first-of-its-kind national study, Why We Lead: Understanding and Supporting the Leadership of AANHPI Girls and Gender-Expansive Youth. To create the conditions for AANHPI girls and gender-expansive youth to lead, all who support and work with them can use these insights to deepen their understanding & advocacy within the community. We are more than a month. But so grateful for all the programming and dedicated time spent to champion and uplift our voices. Honored to be part of the @taaforg summit earlier this month with two of the most brilliant women. @michellelitv and @joannahowrites, In awe of you both and all you do. 🙌🏽 So special to have my littles on stage with me reading excerpts from Always Anjali. It is not lost on me how the Anjali series continues to hold such a special place in so many hearts and finds new homes daily. 🙏🏽✨ I am deeply moved by the bravery and courage of our youngest speaking their truth in the face of so much vitriol. Our voices are needed more than ever and being surrounded and supported by community gives me hope. Thank you @taaforg for holding space for us. I also hear from so many that still feel alone and unseen. I’ve been there. And if that is you right now, believe me, your people exist. Things can change in an instant. SAYA (@saya.nyc), an organization that I am deeply connected to and proud to serve on the board of, celebrated its 28th anniversary this weekend, marking nearly three decades of connecting underserved New York City youth to opportunities and championing solutions that foster educational equity. That is no easy feat and I am in awe of the work this organization continues to do. The event, held at Tribeca 360°, brought together close to 400 guests for an evening of philanthropy, inspiration, and celebration. We gathered. We celebrated. We laughed. And most importantly, we connected on a brighter future for all. I was proud to emcee and honor the work of Sonny Kalsi, Priya Parker, and Anand Giridharadas. And of course the night wouldn’t have been complete without the profound voice and heart of Ali Sethi. Thanks to the altruism of attendees and supporters, the gala raised over $750,000, which will directly benefit SAYA’s programs and initiatives—aimed at empowering youth and fostering their academic, social, and personal development. “The generosity of our supporters, along with the incredible $1 million gift from Mackenzie Scott SAYA received earlier this year, will advance SAYA’s important work in a profound and transformative way” (Samidh Guha, Board Chair). So grateful for all of you who came out and supported. To @neerja.pr for being a champion and @ashgofficial for keeping the party going.
