Five years ago today, @tom_bernthal and I went on our first date. We hiked the Stanford dish and talked about our families, our hopes, and some of the struggles we had faced; he was not just kind and insightful and funny, but he carried my water bottle the entire time.
So much has changed since then. We are now married, raising our children together, working side by side. But some of what started on that day has continued until now – our love for walking and talking, his kindness and insight, his ability to make me laugh. He carried my water bottle then, and now I so often feel like he is carrying me.
Tom – I could not be more grateful for the life we have built together and I could not love you more.

This is the most important post I will write all year.
Earlier this year I went to Israel to bear witness. I heard the horrific stories of the sexual violence that occurred on October 7th. I sat with released hostages who were sexually assaulted at the hands of their captors. And I cried with real-life heroes who saw the naked bodies of women tied to trees. @screamsbeforesilence tells their stories so we know the truth about what happened on that day.
It is our responsibility to collectively bear witness so their screams are heard. We must stand together to demand justice for the victims and the survivors, and make sure this never happens again, anywhere in the world.
Regardless of your politics, rape is never ok. Rape is not resistance.
I urge you to watch #ScreamsBeforeSilence and share it. https://youtu.be/zAr9oGSXgak?si=BQhImMEhBU_gkFB4
@screamsbeforesilence is a heart wrenching look into the suffering of those who survived Hamas’ attacks on October 7 and those who were lost. We owe it to all the victims to understand the truth of what happened and stand united against rape.
Thank you Andrea Mitchell (@mitchellreports) for your reporting on this important story.

I sat down with @jaketapper to discuss the @screamsbeforesilence documentary and why it’s so critical we condemn the sexual violence Hamas committed on October 7.
We have come so far in believing survivors of sexual assault in so many situations. The ground gained for protecting women needs to be built on, not lost.
Thank you to Jake for allowing the stories and voices of sexual assault victims to be heard.
Watch #ScreamsBeforeSilence on YouTube at the link in my bio.
At a time when the world is more divided than ever, we should all be able to agree that sexual violence must never be used as a tool of war. #ScreamsBeforeSilence sheds light on the sexual atrocities Hamas committed on October 7. As heartbreaking as these stories are, we cannot afford to look away.
The documentary launches this Friday, April 26 on YouTube. It’s one of the most important things I have ever worked on, and I hope you watch it.
Nine years ago today, we lost Dave. Those of us closest to him miss him deeply, especially on days like today, and we’re doing all we can to carry on his legacy.
Dave was one of the most incredible people I’ve ever known. He touched the lives of so many as a friend and mentor. He was always generous with his time, advice, and support. And he believed every child should have the opportunity to learn and excel. When Paula, @iamrobgoldberg, and I created the Dave Goldberg Scholarship program, we knew it had to be more than just financial assistance. We wanted to provide these exceptional students with a big-hearted community and wrap-around support through every stage of college and beyond. I’m so proud of all these bright young students have accomplished: 97% of our first class of Goldberg Scholars have graduated and are now employed or in grad school.
Today, @tom_bernthal, @iamrobgoldberg, and I are honored to introduce the seventh class of Goldberg Scholars. We’ll have 15 students from @kippschools and 15 students from @peninsulabridge. They each embody Dave’s best qualities: leadership, character, achievement, and an entrepreneurial spirit. And many will be the first in their family to go to college.
Mahnaz is a political asylum refugee who wants to create educational opportunities for women, having grown up witnessing girls be denied the chance to learn. Alejandro is a passionate advocate for increased support for neurodivergent, low-income students to succeed in local schools. Flory uses engineering to reduce levels of pollutants in low-income communities and already worked with her mayor to enhance local train lines to improve air quality. These are just a few of the amazing new class of scholars.
I believe with all my heart that the Goldberg Scholars are the diverse leaders the world needs to effect change. And I know Dave would believe that too.

I spoke with @danaperino about the new documentary @screamsbeforesilence that sheds light on the horrific sexual violence Hamas committed on October 7. Our hope is that the documentary gives others a chance to bear witness to the undeniable evidence and all of us to remember that sexual violence is never acceptable.

We cannot turn a blind eye to sexual violence. I talked with @chrisccuomo about @screamsbeforesilence and the heartbreaking accounts it features from first responders, experts, and released hostages of the atrocious acts Hamas committed on October 7.
We owe it to all victims to loudly condemn rape whenever and wherever it occurs.

Tonight is the first night of Passover – a special night for @tom_bernthal and me and our family and friends.
Passover honors the story of Exodus, when the Jewish people escaped slavery in Egypt. It’s a tale of hardship and survival and of exile and return. It’s retold at the Passover table to teach each new generation about the bittersweet history of oppression and freedom for Jews across the globe.
As my parents did when I was growing up, Tom and I will talk to our children about how ending slavery and repression of anyone anywhere is the responsibility of everyone everywhere. This lesson is even more poignant for us this year.
May this Passover help us reflect on our shared humanity. And may our prayers for deep and abiding peace be answered. Chag sameach.
Awesome to be back together with great friends and people who loved my late husband Dave so much. We laughed about good times and cried because we all miss Dave’s wisdom and his sense of humor. He would have loved this podcast — and he would have made fun of Chamath endlessly as @thefakechamath on X. Yep, it was Dave the whole time.
We also came together to talk about @screamsbeforesilence and the sexual violence that occurred in Israel on October 7th. We spoke about the undeniable evidence of Hamas’ crimes against women, the alarming rise in antisemitism, and how we can ensure the voices of victims and survivors are heard.
Thank you Chamath, @jason, and David for having me on the pod. I hope everyone listens.
Double date night at @sushiroku which our friend @leemaen just opened in Palo Alto.
Delicious sushi and miso eggplant (my favorite) right around the corner.
Welcome to the neighborhood!

Women who play sports are women who lead. It was incredible to celebrate this truth at @wearebayfc’s Women Empowerment Night.
When @tom_bernthal and I joined the founding team of the club — with Alan Waxman and David Stiepleman from @sixthstreetpartners and @alywagner, @daniellevslaton, @leslieosborne12, and @brandichastain — we had a strong shared vision that the club is about more than just women in sports — it’s about women’s empowerment and lifting up women and girls in soccer and beyond.
From our all-women C-suite and our founding Football Four to our phenomenal players, #BayFC demonstrates the power of women’s leadership. I’m so proud of how Bay FC is already inspiring the next generation of athletes and leaders alike.
And we won!!!
