Vanessa Carlton Instagram – I have been living out of a suitcase for a year and a half! Covid shot us into the stratosphere (or rather back to my hometown area). We lived in a furnished rental home for a year so that Sid could attend kindergarten at the incredible @homesteadschool in Glen Spey, NY (I am an alum!). I worked as a substitute teacher at the school for the year. It was a gift. Now, I believe we’ve found our forever house. We’ve been working hard on bringing this 223 year old house into full bloom. This is our daughters room on the second floor. (We are just starting to move in.)There are fireplaces in each bedroom in this Federal Colonial queen. We chose to leave this mantle fully exposed with a clear wood protector. Natural. I love the whimsy of artful human hands coming together with nature with little interruption.
As my friend says, you are no longer just a homeowner, you are a curator now. We are indeed. And it is such a relief to be stewards of a wonderful home.
