Been doing a lot of reflecting recently on a mom’s unmatched ability to give life. It’s a big something that we don’t acknowledge and revere enough in society – like, truly take the time and energy to hold up mothers on high for creating life itself! I for one am only now beginning to realize the cosmic-magic at work; the spiritual creativity that only a mother can manifest. I wonder why it wasn’t made clear to me by the world. Growing up my mother never “told” me to appreciate her, she was too busy loving me and caring for me. And I don’t think we should further burden a woman to prove to us how important their contribution is, instead let it be expressed by the fathers, taught to the children from their objective eyes, enshrined in stories and ritual. Though a mom’s value is self-evident, manifest within their gift of life itself, I think men should underscore it through faithful service to a mother’s needs, testifying to their value in stories throughout the world, and holding rituals with our children to teach them to truly honor and appreciate how generous and self-sacrificing and important our mothers are. I love you mom. Thank you for every unacknowledged sacrifice and unseen gift. I am a living testimony and will speak loudly of you and what good you have done for the world.
