Bryce Eilenberg Instagram – Near the end of my twitch streams ( twitch.tv/bryceeilenberg Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30pm pst) I sometimes give a tour of my photography. I’d like to give a little more context to a picture I showed last Thursday of the milky way.
On June 21st, 2017, a Northrop Grumman RQ-4B Global Hawk produced erroneous navigation data while on a ferry flight from Edwards AFB to Beale AFB and crashed into the mountains between Lone Pine and Mt. Whitney. The resulting fire and smoke was visible during the day and I was able to get this picture.
What I did not expect was how spectacular the milky way would look at night from the Lone Pine campground as the fire raged on through the night.
