Today we close West Side Story @lyricopera. Truly a career highlight for so many reasons. The crazy challenge of tackling that score every night, the insanely talented cast and orchestra, bringing life to Sondheim’s lyrics, performing for 3600 patrons every night in the stunning Lyric Opera – I could go on forever. Most days I’d sit down and play through this little tune to calm my mind a bit. Get focused before the massive story about to happen. I wonder if Lenny and Steve took some inspiration from it for “Somewhere.” Could be? Who knows. Four months of hard work have come to an end today, so the family and I are taking a long vacation. Going to try and take a long long long long fast from social media. Disconnect and just spend time with my family, read a lot, and soak in life. Simply want to say – thank you. Thank you for giving two rips about what I do and think and say and post. You rock. Life is awesome.

GUYS! This Memorial Day, I have proudly decided to join thousands all over the world in tackling “The Murph Challenge.” Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy was a Navy SEAL in charge of a four-man operation in support of Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan in 2005. He courageously gave his life for his unit while exposing himself to enemy gunfire to call the SOF Quick Reaction Force at Bagram Air Base to request assistance after an enemy attack. His sacrifice and heroism is immortalized in many ways, one of which is the movie “Lone Survivor.” Another is the Murph Challenge – Murphy’s favorite workout while stationed in Afghanistan. Run 1 mile, 100 pullups, 200 pushups, 300 air squats, then run another mile. All while wearing a 20 pound weighted vest, or body armor. Every year on Memorial Day, men and women all over the world perform the Murph Challenge in honor of his sacrifice. Please consider joining me and registering on the official website in my bio.
