Detective Perspective is back with another episode on audio, and this one is a little older, but it involves an entire family that desperately needs justice. On the morning of August 15, 2002, Mike and Mary Short were found murdered in their rural Bassett, Virginia home. Their nine-year-old daughter, Jennifer, was nowhere to be found. It quickly became clear that she’d been abducted by the killer. An extensive search for Jennifer began, but sadly, weeks later, her remains were found approximately 40 miles away from her home. She too had been murdered. It’s been more than 21 years since Mike, Mary, and Jennifer Short were killed and investigators are still searching for the person responsible… #truecrime #unsolved #coldcase #theshortfamily

Episode 42 is now up on audio. This week, we’re covering the heartbreaking case of missing 11-year-old Madalina Cojocari. On December 15th, 2022, Madalina was reported missing in Cornelius, North Carolina. Her mother, Diana Cojocari, initially told the police that she last saw her daughter on the night of November 23rd. However, investigators soon discovered that nobody outside the family had seen Madalina after November 21st. This discrepancy raised suspicions, especially as it became apparent that Diana, along with her husband, Christopher Palmiter, were withholding crucial information, impeding the progress of the investigation. Now, a year and a half later, Madalina remains missing, and investigators are still searching for her… Listen now for the full case details wherever you get your podcasts. You might know something that can help find Madalina. #truecrime #missing #missingperson #madalinacojocari #unsolved #coldcase

We’re back on audio with another episode of Detective Perspective. This week, we’re covering the 1988 murder of 14-year-old Brandy Hutchins and the bizarre circumstances surrounding her case. On November 8, 1988, Brandy Hutchins, a 14-year-old beloved daughter, told her friends and family that she was pregnant with her boyfriend’s child. Tragically, just four days later, she was discovered murdered in the root cellar of an abandoned house in Coal Hill, Arkansas. During the police investigation at the house, they found a piece of paper with a positive pregnancy test result next to Brandy’s body. However, when Brandy’s autopsy results came back, they revealed she was not pregnant and had never been. It turned out that Brandy had not been honest about her pregnancy. After learning this, the police suspected that the fake positive pregnancy test might have played a role in her death. They focused their attention on two suspects, including Brandy’s boyfriend, but unfortunately, they never found enough evidence to make an arrest. It’s been more than 35 years since Brandy was killed, and investigators are still searching for answers… #truecrime #unsolved #mystery #coldcase #brandyhutchins

We’ve hit our 40th episode of Detective Perspective! Though we wish we never have to cover cases like these, we are so grateful for your support in bringing light to these unsolved cases that desperately need answers. This week, we’re covering a particularly grisly and heartbreaking murder that is still unresolved. On the morning of May 6, 2014, Russell Dermond, an 88-year-old beloved father and husband, was found dead in the garage of his home on Lake Oconee in Georgia. He had been brutally murdered, and his head was removed. Russell’s wife of 62 years, Shirley, was nowhere to be found. An intense search for her began, and on May 16, she was found in the lake. Shirley had also been murdered, and her body was weighed down with concrete blocks. Despite a thorough investigation, the police have yet to identify a motive or suspect for this heinous crime. It’s been just over 10 years since Russell and Shirley were killed, and investigators are still searching for the person responsible… Listen now wherever you get your podcasts. #truecrime #unsolved #coldcase #mystery #unsolvedmystery #truecrimepodcast
