Folks ask when my quilts come up for sale. This one is going to be auctioned off next month to support THE CONEY ISLAND HYSTERICAL ASSOCIATION. More details when I have them but keep watching this space.
A friend asked if he was ever going to get a quilt of mine. I reminded him that he lives in a small studio apartment. His response was, “SO?” So, I offer a photo of my 6′ self standing in front of one of my quilts in answer to his question. Photo thanks to Lisa Kuller
Sweet Joy Hermalyn visited yesterday and snapped this of me and the boys.
Went to see my precious Shoshana Bean in HELL’S KITCHEN last night and had a blast. She, and the entire cast, are talent on parade! Amazing energy and passion for their work. Bravi one and all. After the performance, standing on the stage with the company and crew, several of whom I’ve known for years… decades even… one of the house staff said she was happy that I was there. “Where else would I be?” I asked. Looking out at the now empty audience I remarked, “There are a lot of seats out there. They fill up performance after performance, 8 times a week, with people who love theater. But we who live and breathe Broadway could only fill a house like this a couple of nights and then no more. We are a rare breed, we creatures of the stage. Rare and precious and spectacular to behold. We bring a room of strangers together and through the magic of seductive artistry we get them to believe whatever we say as truth. No house of worship is more powerful than a theater with a story to tell.”
BoBo got me a bouquet of feathers for Mother’s Day. Unfortunately, they were from inside the couch!
It’s cold and rainy out there but I remember a day of warm sun as if it was only days ago. Hey, wait. It WAS only days ago. Spring will be Spring!
Just completed this BARBIE & KEN quilt for my grand-niece on my new long arm machine but… BOBO has claimed it for himself. He’ll get over it.
Almost done with the first quilt totally created on my new Gammill Statler long arm. It just needs to be bound and then we’ll see how it looks on a bed. 108 x 108. It’s a biggie! Lots of pieces are from Liza Roos Lucy using Kaffe Fassett fabrics. We are exciting together, don’t you think?
The amazing Liza Roos Lucy sent me a box of orphan blocks she’d made from over the years. I put them together, adding a few touches of my own, and came up with this king sized quilt. I just finished binding it and will soon send it off to be sold for charity. What do you think of the name, “ORPHANS NO MORE”?
Dropped into #COTTON CANDY FABRICS and BoBo fell in love with this sample throw rug made from a “Jelly Roll”. Guess who will be making him one of his own? Good luck, Charlie!
Just finished this smaller quilt on my new Gammill long arm sewing machine. Learning sloooooowly. But learning, I am.
BoBo got his own quilt! It was a challenge but fun. I did a drawing of BoBo, digitized it, used it to quilt the entire thing and then sewed 5 larger versions out of chenille. Hard to see all of the detail in a small photo when the quilt is 101″ X 101″ but you can get the idea. Me and my Gammill are getting to know one another for sure.
In honor of the #JEOPARDY 60th anniversary Charlie sings the finale! He’s a huge fan.
Peonies popping. My favorite time of year.
Just finished this 112″ x 98″ baby, “Liza Roos Lucy Sent Me Flowers”. Had so much fun with the stars, stripes and posies.
BoBo and Charlie had their pals Charlie and Georgia over for the first swim party of the season. They had a great time and I… will be diving to clear fur out of the drain. That’s life. Ha!
Charlie send to be teaching BoBo to howl at #JEOPARDY.
For those who ask about my quilts… Here’s one coming up for auction starting June 3rd. The monies will be supporting our community. I truly hope it finds a home in your heart.
Playing on my new #gammillstatlerstitcher Constructing an improv “Quilt As You Go” piece that I will then go back and quilt. This machine can do unbelievable things. I just have no idea how to access them YET! But give me time (and lessons) and I’ll find my way.
BoBo loves his quilt
The dog days of summer have arrived. Everybody in the pool!
If you’re about on Wednesday eve… Neither Charlie nor BoBo have ever seen this Oscar winner so they’ll both be there watching. Hope you will be too.
