Now here’s a #fbf. Came across this randomly today. Who remember’s?
21 seems so long ago… still doing a lot of the same in my free time though:
1) hiking the Kalalau trail
2) running – that was prob just after a 400m sprint
3) hiking down to the beach
4) making a snowman on a frozen lake

Discarding the first quarter but the rest of 2023? Not too shabby. Happy New Year! Who’s got resolutions or mantras for 2024? Let’s hear them! New York, New York
Honestly, what color did you expect it to be? [laughs in evil knowing it’s also a day late] #maythe4thbewithyou and #maythe5thbewithyou
You have doggo? Ok, I’ll be there soon. No, you don’t have to stay. #fbf #otherpeoplespets but also mine. One of the best parts of finally sorting through some old albums… these gems.
Four things I wish I’d known when I started cycling: 1) Never nod or wave back to other cyclists – it’s a trick to distract you! 2) Cars will always stop, even when you have the right of way. 3) You will totally be back home before that thing you have to do at noon… 4) Cycling is cheaper than going out What else am I forgetting? 🤣 Wrong answers only.
Been getting to my gate a lot earlier these days… which is an accomplishment for me IYKYK 😅 but I really wish the security process wasn’t so unpredictably chaotic and aggressive. At least airports are getting nicer. I even stopped to take a few fun shots of LGA’s shinier side on my last trip in and out of there. As much as I love to adventure, there’s no place like home 🏠.
“What’s your vibe?” Well…
It’s the mountain life for me…
Sometimes you win, sometimes… the powder is way deeper and softer than you thought and… 🏂🤣 I’ve been snowboarding for YEARS so it’s not often I eat it let alone catch the entire thing on camera! Laughed the entire way down. Wear a helmet, kids.
“Whatcha thinking about…?” Has someone ever caught you mid-daydream and been like, “helloooo, anyone home🏠?”
I’ve definitely been on a journey this year; mentally, physically and emotionally. More thankful than ever for the beautiful places I’ve been able to decompress in this year while putting this body through its paces.
While a lot of my stress release happens through outdoor activities and disconnecting in nature, it’s been incredibly helpful to have some tools and resources to mentally nosh on along the way from some GREAT BOOKS 📚 on anxiety, emotional wellbeing, relationships and mental health.
Considering the questions I’ve received about them, here’s a few of the reads I liked from the past few months:
– Atlas of the Heart @brenebrown
– How to do the Work by Nicole Lepera
– First, We Make the Beast Beautiful @_sarahwilson_
– Owning Your Own Shadow by Robert A. Johnson
– Atomic Habits @jamesclear
Whether you like anecdotal reads or scientific based, there’s a lot to think about and some great daily practices. Take what works. Leave what doesn’t.
Have you read any? Thoughts? New suggestions?

“Looks like you need this…” 😜 I don’t ride 60 miles out of the city JUST for the workout but many people don’t know how many effing cute spots there are to stop along the way for things like apple cider donuts, autumn leaves, hiking, brunch, sea side tacos and getting in great views of the Hudson you can’t get in the city.
You first go up the Hudson River Parkway which has been developing for years. Trek up to 178th st and cross the George Washington Bridge to Palisades Park which is ~15 miles of rolling hills, parks, waterfalls, marinas and hiking paths.
The 9W market is shortly after the ranger station for Burgers 🍔 and breakfast, bikes.
Then you have the town of Nyack with a ton of restaurants and a seaside park that even had a Halloween parade last weekend.
Bear Mountain is even further up with a big lake, hiking and camping, and a lookout you can see NYC from.
If you cross Bear Mountain bridge at around 50 miles north of the city, Cold Spring is another 10 miles with a Main Street that looks like it belongs in Hocus Pocus or a Hallmark movie. But if that’s too far, Peekskill is a bit closer, right on the water with a farmers market and festivals on the weekend. Both towns with train stations back to Grand Central Station.
I never have a dull ride but I’m sure there are some spots I’m missing. Explored the area? Know another good spot. Let me know! Bear Mountain State Park
Webshooters ran out. Had to catch the subway back home again. New York, New York
Are you a crunchy looking leaf 🍂 stomper? Then this one’s also for you. It’s the small things.

I feel like I had fall and tastes of winter all through the summer. But even these 2 nights of snow that fell overnight while camping just had me 🥹.
One of the most beautiful backcountry areas in America (imo) and luckily one I’ve spent a lot of time exploring is in Colorado.
Spring, Summer, fall or winter, 🏔️ Aspen Snowmass Wilderness 🏔️ has never disappointed and this 27 mile, 8200ft gain, high elevation trek over 3 days was no exception.
I actually want to come back and try to trail run this in a day 🫠. Any takers 😅?
