@americanexpress reveals collaboration with architect @rem.koolhaas, artist @kehindewiley and luxury fashion house @prada to bring a touch of artistic inspiration and innovation to its iconic Centurion Card. The Kehinde Wiley designed card draws inspiration from the botanical motif in the artist’s portrait Princess Victoire of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (2012), one of the twelve paintings that make up the artist’s iconic series “An Economy of Grace.” Wiley is well-known for his vibrant reinterpretations of classical portraits that celebrate people the artist has met throughout the world. Wiley explains, “So much of my work is about what is behind the figure- you see this in the decorative, organic backgrounds of my paintings. The same way I elevate the narrative of my subjects, I want to create something much more vaunted for a decorative art form that appears in wallpapers, laces and filigrees. My design on the Amex Centurion Card stems from my interest in botanical elements and is a nod to my signature style.” #kehindewiley #centurioncard #americanexpress #remkoolhaas #prada #artcard
