Kylie Shea Instagram – @kyliesheafoto x @leica_camera // “The girl in the tree” was the first in my ongoing self-portrait series that began back in 2020. To capture this image I propped the camera up on a stool with bottles & books to hold it in place, hit the shutter, sprinted to & climbed the tree, then hit my pose in the 12 seconds the self-timer mode allowed. The vision was to create a shape that blended so seamlessly into the tree that at first glance, it’s hard to tell where it ends and I begin.
My self-portrait series serves as a visual diary to document where I’ve been not only physically, but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Whether it be through dance or through my lens, I am devoted to the art of storytelling without words.
