Patton Oswalt Instagram – Just found a little slice of heaven in Calgary. The mighty @globecinema_yyc — my @newbeverly away from home. It’s dingy, it’s gloomy — it’s PERFECT. Non-stop new, fringe, and classic cult cinema. Lumpy seats, mostly-empty auditoriums on a Saturday afternoon. I just watched THE LAST STOP IN YUMA COUNTY (a stunning debut desert noir from @francisgalluppi that’s wall-to-wall tension, violence and beloved character actors! Jim Cummings! Faizon Love! Gene Jones! Robin Bartlett! Barbara Crampton! And the always-epic Richard Brake!) and I’m coming back tomorrow for PINK FLAMINGOS! Watching John Waters’ trash-terpiece on a Sunday afternoon with, I’m predicting, 5 more people is film freak nirvana. Thank you, @globecinema_yyc — for your charming concession stand, your showcasing of indie game designers (you can play as-yet-released games from local designers for FREE!) and your weird, midnight-movies-for-matinee programming style.
