Ryuichi Sakamoto Instagram – SKMT | dig š
Introducing a new series where we dig from Ryuichi Sakamoto’s vast musical contributions.
We will focus on a different work, each full š and new š moon, to share background and commentary for lesser-known or appreciated works.
We begin the series with “Opening Theme” from “L.O.L. (Lack Of Love)” (2000).

L.O.L: Lack Of Love is an evolutionary life simulation game developed by Love-de-Lic and published by ASCII Corporation for the Sega Dreamcast.
The game was released on November 2, 2000, in Japan. It is the only video game Ryuichi was involved in creatively in addition to composing the music.
Together with game director Kenichi Nishi, they set out to make a game with a simple theme, helping others.
“We should care for other people, life, the environment and nature” said Nishi (in an interview with gamestm.uk). Sakamoto came up with the title, feeling that today’s lifestyle and environment really lacks love.
