The return of my drag-king alter ego “Alexander Velvet”! Inspired by my favorite kings, I got dressed up in head-to-toe plastic for this biker/cowboy/Tom of Finland fantasy.

One of my favorite moments of filming in Oklahoma last fall was our visit to church. Yeah, it surprised me too! Being accepted as queer people in a religious space—a Catholic congregation no less—reminded me that the purpose of spirituality should be to unite people in service of community, to help those in need, to raise our voices and celebrate LIFE! That’s the role that drag has played in my life. The queer version of spirit isn’t tied up in fear and shame and judgement, but rather encourages us to see all people—no matter their identity—as good and worthy of inclusion…deserving of freedom (and a spotlight!). Thank you to Father Joshua (@joshua_shawnee) and @st.jerometulsa for welcoming drag into your sacred space! Watch the EPIC and truly DIVINE season finale of @WereHere tonight on @HBO/@streamonmax

Howdy Oklahoma!! Feeling on the edge of glory with the ICONS @latriceroyale and @thequeenpriyanka
I’ve always wanted to visit OK. My Grandpa was born there in the small town of Cordell in 1915, and my mom always had fond memories. I can’t say we had the warmest welcome, but by the end it felt like home, and I had a better understanding of our country and its history.
Thank you @werehere @hbo @streamonmax for this opportunity to learn and explore!
