LEST WE FORGET Why does Australia have so much trouble recognising the lives of women we lose every few days to men’s violence? Where is their Shrine of Remembrance? Where are their bronze statues? Where are their Medals of Honour?

ANOTHER AUSTRALIAN MAN KILLS YET ANOTHER AUSTRALIAN WOMAN, BUT I ONLY REALLY SEE WOMEN TALKING ABOUT THIS. WHY?
MISS YOU TODAY AND EVERY DAY, NIKI 💔
CALL A SPADE A SPADE
TALK IS CHEAP My sister Nikita was murdered in 2015 in Melbourne. She was 23. Since then, Victoria has had a Royal Commission into Family Violence. Political leaders have proudly said they fulfilled all of its recommendations. I shared every detail of my sister Niki’s life and how the system failed her so that her vengeful and abusive partner could murder her. I never thought I would use my law degree to make submissions to the government on how to prevent my sister’s murder. All of this led to some important reforms in the specialist family violence courts, respectful relationships education and engagement with multicultural communities. But the work is far from done and we are in a crisis. Men killing women went up 28 per cent from 2021-22 to 2023-23. Literally during the time I recorded this interview, yet another Australian man killed a woman. At the rate we are going, we could hit 100 women killed this year alone. And there is mass violence happening elsewhere, especially to women and girls and it’s almost exclusively being perpetrated by men. I’m glad that more people are willing to talk about men’s violence, but for every family who’s lost a loved one, they don’t want more talk. They want meaningful commitments, fully funded services and leadership. It might sound like a big ask to some, but if we’re going to claim to respect women, then it’s quite literally, the least we can do. 🎥 This clip is from my recent interview with @allisonlangdon, host of @acurrentaffair9 on @channel9. I am in Canberra for the National Crisis Roundtable on Murdered Women. Men’s violence against women is finally in the national media spotlight once more and we cannot afford to miss this opportunity. Today is a big deal. I feel the weight of responsibility and am here for Niki and every victim of men’s violence and their loved ones. Niki won’t get to be in Parliament House. Ever. She won’t get to share any of her experiences. She won’t take another breath again. And neither will all the women whose lives have been stolen by violent men. As everyone talks to their expertise and shares their views, we would do well to listen to those who represent the women whose lives were stolen by men. They sadly possess something others can’t. Something they would never wish upon anyone: Wisdom that comes from knowing what all could have been done – but wasn’t – to prevent the murder of a loved one. If we’re actually serious about preventing men killing women every 3.5 days in Australia, then it’s those who knew the women and the men who killed them that we should probably listen to most. For Niki. And all women. I hope to make you proud. Swipe to see my Facebook Memories from yesterday. Just before I went to sleep I saw this from Niki asking me for a “warm, loving, kind-hearted speech” at her birthday party. Yeah right, lil sis. It’s always my job to roast you 😂💔🥹

I WOULD NOT WISH THIS HEARTBREAK ON ANYONE 💔
ANOTHER WOMAN KILLED
NO MORE PLATITUDES People across Australia are angry, tired and scared that men keep killing women. The Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says government “needs to do better”. What’s that look like?
EVERYDAY RACISM This is what we live with for speaking out. But sorry, we ain’t going anywhere. And we won’t stop speaking out. Australia is my home, too.
Some personal reflections the week after Men’s Health Week. It’s a privilege to grow old, but we shouldn’t lose 8.6 Australian lives a day to s**cide. We need to do so much more to support every person living with mental health challenges – especially boys and men.

Dear Australian media, Please stop perpetuating harmful stereotypes about what DV looks like. We’ve told you this a million times already. Sincerely, All of us
EMERGENCY NATIONAL CABINET MEETING The Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, is holding a meeting of all state and territory leaders to discuss the crisis of men killing women across Australia. I want to feel hopeful but it’s very hard right now. I was asked what I want to come from this meeting and I would like to hear how the government plans to actually deliver on its promises. Watch this snippet from mine and @kim_oreilly1’s interview with @allisonlangdon on @channel9’s @acurrentaffair9.
TODAY, I HONOUR YOU. THINKING OF ALL THE WOMEN KILLED THIS YEAR AT HOME, FOR THE WOMEN OF G@ZA, R@FAH OR BEING HELD HOSTAGE.
