For nearly a decade, we’ve joined Indigenous tribes (@bearsearscoalition), environmental leaders and the outdoor community in the ongoing fight to preserve Bears Ears and the surrounding landscape as a nationally protected monument. Now, we have a historic opportunity to call on President Biden to approve the first-ever national monument management plan informed by a coalition of Tribal Nations.
The plan (Alternative E) prioritizes recreational access to magnificent sites across Bears Ears like the Creek, while incorporating Traditional Indigenous Knowledge into land management practices. This approach is integral to the sustainable conservation of long-celebrated places like Bears Ears.
