この旅が始まる前、what’s upのやり取りで、ヨハンのリクエストがあり、朝になってSeparate Reality 5.12aを登りに行くことになった。地元のハンスも登ったことがないと言うことで、自分の記憶をたどっての案内で、86年に登ってから2002年に一度行ったきりで朧げな記憶と観を頼りに下降点に辿り着いた。 86年に行った際には、雑誌や先輩クライマーからよく聞いていて、日本人クライマーの憧れのルートだった。また当時は5.11cだったが、特にクライミングの内容は何も変わってはいない。 そして厚さ1m程からルーフ抜け口は30センチ程しかない5〜6mの屋根のようなルーフで地震がきたら崩れそうだなと思った記憶を思いだす。そして、取付のテラスに降りるとルーフから空が見え、光が差し込む光景が懐かしかった。今回のリラックスしたノープランの旅で朝になってから「行こう！」となったが、初めての二人は高度感抜群のこの場所で流石に緊張している様子だった。こんな緊張感は中々味わえないだろうし、特に、エルキャピタンを180回も登っているハンスが初めてのSeparate Reality と言うのもこの旅の面白さだと思った。僕自身も２２年振り3回目の完登は心地良かった。 そしてValley Life も楽しく過ごさせて頂いている。 思い起こせば、Village StoreもCurry Village のマウンテンショップも沢山買い物に行ったなーー ノープランの旅は続く🌲🌲☀️🇺🇸⛺️🍻 Johan requested us to climb Separate Reality 5.12a before this trip started and Hans, a local, had never climbed it before, so I guided him from my own memory, and since I had only climbed it once in 1986 and then in 2002, I reached the descent point relying on my vague memories and the view. When I went there in 1986, I had heard a lot about it in magazines and from senior climbers, and it was a route that Japanese climbers longed for. It was also 5.11c at the time, but nothing in particular has changed in the climbing content. And the 5-6m roof-like roof, which was about 1m thick and had only about 30cm of roof outlet, would collapse if there was an earthquake. when I went down to the terrace at the start, I could see the sky from the roof, and the sight of the light shining in was nostalgic. It was a relaxed trip with no plans, and it was only in the morning that we decided to go, they seemed nervous at this hight and what made this trip especially interesting was that this was Hans’ first time in separate reality, even though he’s climbed El Capitan 180 times. I myself felt good completing the climb for the third time after 22 years. ノープランの旅5日目、なんとEl Capにある22pitch のLurking Fear へ💨💨行こう！となった。 翌朝3:33起床、真っ暗なアプローチを歩く中、97年にオンサイトトライをしたSalathe取付きを通り過ぎる。そしてアプローチ1時間程でLurking Fear 取付きに着いた。過去の一部であるけど一コマ、一コマを思いだす。 95年フランス🇫🇷で見つけた雑誌Graimperの記事からEl Capitan に取り憑かれた自分だが、2008年まで自分の能力を試すキャンパスとしては最高の壁だった！ そして2002年、Nick Fowler と出したLurking Fearのスピード記録3:03は22年経ってもまだ破られていないみたい。７ピッチ目のボルダームーブだけできずに完登出来なかったLurking Fear、いろいろな事をここに来て思い出す。 12時間かけて僕らはEl Cap頂上に立ち、駐車場には取付きを離れて15時間後の21時頃ヘロヘロで戻った。このヘロヘロ感と充実感はEl Capに行かないと分からない感覚。そしてハンス、ヨハンそれぞれの思いがある中で今回一緒に登れた事は本当に良かった。 また、何年先になるか分からないけどまたEl Capに戻って来たいなー 過去のrock &Snow やAlpinistに僕が打ち込んだEl Capへの思いが綴ってあるのでぜひ読んで欲しい。 On the fifth day of our trip without a plan, we went to 22pitchs Lurking Fear on El Cap.We decided to go! We woke up at 3:33 the next morning, and walked the approach in the dark, passing by the Salathe base where I had tried onsighting in 1997. Then, about an hour into the approach, we reached the base of Lurking Fear.It’s a part of the my past, but it reminds me of each and every moment. and I was able to remember a lot of things. Speed record of Lurking fear 3:03 that I set with Nick Fowler in 2002 has not been broken even after 22 years, and I couldn’t complete Lurking Fear because only I couldn’t complete the boulder move on the 7th pitch. After 12 hours, we reached the top of El Cap and returned to the parking lot at around 9pm, 15 hours after leaving the starting point, exhausted. This feeling of exhaustion and fulfillment can only be understood by going to El Cap.it was really good that Hans and Johan climbed together this time, even though they each had their own thoughts. I don’t know when it will be, but I would like to come back to El Cap again. I climb every day since I arrived in US 🇺🇸 And this post was to spend a great day with young energetic crew from Bay Area in Lower Cathedral and Cathedral Boulder. As we know that climbing is great activity to make friends from all over the world 🌎 In front of routes or boulder problems, we share a lot of information, knowledges each other. Doesn’t matter age, nationality, culture,gender. It’s remind me a lot front of Mid Night lightning ⚡️in Camp 4. I could meet multinational climber everyday in 1986. And even I still comminicate since that day. I imagine that passion to something like climbing is great way to connect people.
