翌朝3:33起床、真っ暗なアプローチを歩く中、97年にオンサイトトライをしたSalathe取付きを通り過ぎる。そしてアプローチ1時間程でLurking Fear 取付きに着いた。過去の一部であるけど一コマ、一コマを思いだす。
95年フランス🇫🇷で見つけた雑誌Graimperの記事からEl Capitan に取り憑かれた自分だが、2008年まで自分の能力を試すキャンパスとしては最高の壁だった！
そして2002年、Nick Fowler と出したLurking Fearのスピード記録3:03は22年経ってもまだ破られていないみたい。７ピッチ目のボルダームーブだけできずに完登出来なかったLurking Fear、いろいろな事をここに来て思い出す。
12時間かけて僕らはEl Cap頂上に立ち、駐車場には取付きを離れて15時間後の21時頃ヘロヘロで戻った。このヘロヘロ感と充実感はEl Capに行かないと分からない感覚。そしてハンス、ヨハンそれぞれの思いがある中で今回一緒に登れた事は本当に良かった。
また、何年先になるか分からないけどまたEl Capに戻って来たいなー

On the fifth day of our trip without a plan, we went to 22pitchs Lurking Fear on El Cap.We decided to go!
We woke up at 3:33 the next morning, and walked the approach in the dark, passing by the Salathe base where I had tried onsighting in 1997. Then, about an hour into the approach, we reached the base of Lurking Fear.It’s a part of the my past, but it reminds me of each and every moment.
and I was able to remember a lot of things. Speed record of Lurking fear 3:03 that I set with Nick Fowler in 2002 has not been broken even after 22 years, and I couldn’t complete Lurking Fear because only I couldn’t complete the boulder move on the 7th pitch.
After 12 hours, we reached the top of El Cap and returned to the parking lot at around 9pm, 15 hours after leaving the starting point, exhausted. This feeling of exhaustion and fulfillment can only be understood by going to El Cap.it was really good that Hans and Johan climbed together this time, even though they each had their own thoughts.
I don’t know when it will be, but I would like to come back to El Cap again.
