Yuji Hirayama Instagram – この旅が始まる前、what’s upのやり取りで、ヨハンのリクエストがあり、朝になってSeparate Reality 5.12aを登りに行くことになった。地元のハンスも登ったことがないと言うことで、自分の記憶をたどっての案内で、86年に登ってから2002年に一度行ったきりで朧げな記憶と観を頼りに下降点に辿り着いた。
86年に行った際には、雑誌や先輩クライマーからよく聞いていて、日本人クライマーの憧れのルートだった。また当時は5.11cだったが、特にクライミングの内容は何も変わってはいない。
そして厚さ1m程からルーフ抜け口は30センチ程しかない5〜6mの屋根のようなルーフで地震がきたら崩れそうだなと思った記憶を思いだす。そして、取付のテラスに降りるとルーフから空が見え、光が差し込む光景が懐かしかった。今回のリラックスしたノープランの旅で朝になってから「行こう！」となったが、初めての二人は高度感抜群のこの場所で流石に緊張している様子だった。こんな緊張感は中々味わえないだろうし、特に、エルキャピタンを180回も登っているハンスが初めてのSeparate Reality と言うのもこの旅の面白さだと思った。僕自身も２２年振り3回目の完登は心地良かった。
そしてValley Life も楽しく過ごさせて頂いている。
思い起こせば、Village StoreもCurry Village のマウンテンショップも沢山買い物に行ったなーー

Johan requested us to climb Separate Reality 5.12a before this trip started and Hans, a local, had never climbed it before, so I guided him from my own memory, and since I had only climbed it once in 1986 and then in 2002, I reached the descent point relying on my vague memories and the view.
When I went there in 1986, I had heard a lot about it in magazines and from senior climbers, and it was a route that Japanese climbers longed for. It was also 5.11c at the time, but nothing in particular has changed in the climbing content.
And the 5-6m roof-like roof, which was about 1m thick and had only about 30cm of roof outlet, would collapse if there was an earthquake. when I went down to the terrace at the start, I could see the sky from the roof, and the sight of the light shining in was nostalgic. It was a relaxed trip with no plans, and it was only in the morning that we decided to go, they seemed nervous at this hight and what made this trip especially interesting was that this was Hans’ first time in separate reality, even though he’s climbed El Capitan 180 times. I myself felt good completing the climb for the third time after 22 years.
