Aliyah O’Brien Instagram – Oh sweet sweet contrast 🙃
On a particularly wet and chilly morning yesterday, I was chatting with the fabulous @ange_hartman from @turfliving before stepping into a class.
We all love to complain about the rain because let’s be honest, we get more than our share in this little West Coast pocket. I am admittedly that person often. It’s why I usually head south for part of every winter 💃🏻☀️
But today as I left my apartment and got bitch slapped by the bitter wetness, I shuttered, and then I felt grateful.
Yep you heard me. Annoying right?!
Because I know the sun IS coming soon, and that without this wet, cold, muck, I wouldn’t rejoice so fiercely when the sun comes out.
Vancouver when it’s sunny is like a real life musical. People who haven’t smiled in months, all of a sudden can’t make it stop.
It’s like we all just popped ecstasy and would say YES PLEASE if a stranger asked to cuddle.
I’ve lived in LA for periods of time , and while nice to be able to rely on sunshine on the daily, it does lose its luster a little.
Life is about contrast.
We need the lows to appreciate the highs.
And experience the whole juicy package that is life.
I think we can work on how we relate to the lows…but that’s a whole other post.
For now, I’m going to enjoy the rain, knowing the sun will eventually come and thrust us into a vitamin D induced euphoria ☀️
PS. I realize it’s almost April and making this post in January would just be rude 😘
