I chose my word of the year 6 weeks ago, ordered a bracelet with the word stamped on it to see how it felt…GROWTH. I like it, but it’s different for me. Usually my words have some action, forward momentum. This is not about where I’m going, or even how i will get there. This is about taking all the twists and turns that I couldn’t possibly see coming and using them to get deeper, smarter, more aware of myself and the world around me. These last two years have been life-changing for me. I launched a media company with a mission to create a New Power, I acquired a community of women who are leading the way. We’ve led amazing conversations and sometimes, just held each other’s hands (virtually). GROWTH is about optimism for the future and trust that we will figure out how to make it meaningful—together. I was late for breakfast. But when someone shows up for you, you show up for them. So I dropped a kid downtown and got an Uber uptown and raced into the fancy restaurant where this gorgeous group of women were meeting and greeting California State Controller @malia.cohen . In about 10 minutes we were all rallying around each other and offering contacts, counsel and promising to do more—for her and each other. This is the power of #togetherness. An over scheduled morning turned into a lesson on how we build power by giving it to others. Thank you @heidispeaks for gathering us, thank you Natalia Villalobos and @tvancourt for showing us how to do it!

Just spending 10 minutes a day intentionally nurturing your relationships can transform your connections, your team, your company, and even your career. Today, I spent my 10 minutes (and then some) with a phone call to a trusted friend, a walk to get centered, and planning some coffee dates for next week. How will you spend your 10 minutes?
