Anthea Turner Instagram – Any one had blocked tear ducts or drippy eyes as I’ve been calling it? I thought it was something which would go away but no, so went running to my Opthalmic Optician Ali Mearza. If you follow me you’ll know I’ve had my eyes ‘zapped’ – The right eye now deals with distance and left close up, somewhere in the middle they work in perfect harmony.  Then a few years ago while on set with The Real Dirty Dancing’ I had an accident with a curtain pulley it pinged back into my left eye – Definitely hurt but not bloodshot so thought it would be OK?  Went to see Ali who told me I was hours away from retina detachment and his colleague Chein Wong was in a taxi on his way over to fix it otherwise I could lose the sight in that eye! Drippy eyes not quite so frightening but incredibly annoying – Ali explains here what causes it and although we have had a poke around it keeps coming back so think I’ll have to have the little op. Filming in Crete next week and no one want to watch a presenter with mascara dripping down her face !! Big fan of Ali’s work, I got chatting to his wife in a fitness class which is how I ended up as a patient. Had I not, there is every chance that after my accident in ignorance, I would have left my retina damage until it was too late and lost my sight in that eye – Serendipity! @alimearza @ocl_vision @chien_wong_
