This week multiple celebrities paid homage to Karl Lagerfeld at the Met Gala. A hateful man who repeatedly fat shamed women throughout his career, consistently discriminated against any woman if they she didn’t look a ‘certain’ way, a man who once said he was ‘fed up’ with the #metoo movement, saying “If you don’t want your pants pulled about, don’t become a model! Join a nunnery, there’ll always be a place for you in the convent. They’re recruiting even!” It makes me incredibly angry seeing pictures from the Met Gala. It makes me incredibly sad that people would rather be paid thousands of pounds to wear a certain outfit or be seen on instagram to be at the gala… than stand up for something. It makes me feel sick that the film/tv/music/beauty/‘celebrity’ industry turned a blind eye and decided to HONOUR a man who was one of the worst types of men out there. Poisonous and cruel. I keep thinking we will learn, change and heal. But not like this we won’t. Take action. Stand up against what is WRONG and TWISTED. And don’t be wooed by a minute of fame, instagram followers or zeitgeist. Imagine if everyone refused to go? The headlines would be a LOT more interesting and you would look a LOT cooler and influential. So here’s a picture of me putting my fingers in my ears and pretending the world isn’t mad for a second. Peace and love to all.
Suited and goddam booted. It was an honour to be presenting a section of the @oldvictheatre TOMORROW Gala last night, directed by the amazing @jamiemanton ✨ I did my first couple of plays at The Old Vic and it has a VERY warm place in my heart. I always forget it is a charity. It’s outreach is HUGE, working with people between the ages of 5-80 from all different communities all over the UK. Next year they are going to build a 5 storey Annex next door to the theatre, which will hold a Studio, a learning centre, a cafe and also a working library space that can nurture aspiring writers, theatre makers and ANYONE who want to be involved in telling stories. How fab is that?! This theatre and all the people inside it are really, really special and I cannot recommend popping in to see a show enough 🤌🏼 I hear we raised a lot of money last night so that’s wonderful. There’s hope in the world. Long live theatre. Long live creativity. Long live community. Long live @oldvictheatre 🧡
A lot of the time I feel really embarrassed to be British. The politics, the state of the government and the so-called ‘democracy’ we live in…. is truly devastating and heartbreaking. BUT there are a few moments when I breathe in and out, look out over the river and feel very lucky to be a Londoner. Sending love and a hug to all who might need it on this wet and gloomy day.

Got dressed up and clapped very loudly for the one and only Luke Thompson last night. Congrats to the cast of @alittlelifeplay 👏🏼 I must say that the play is incredibly triggering and that you should seriously look up the themes and the topics of the book/play before going to see it. Especially with everything that is going on in the world…look out for yourselves and what you have the capacity to absorb. The acting is incredible but the storylines are tough so do your research and check in with pals who might be seeing it. Love and cuddles to all on this damp Friday 🧡
