The MMIW (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women) movement exists because a large number of Native women and girls go missing and are murdered each year compared to women from any other groups. It’s not just our females, our male, trans, and 2-spirit relatives are part of the MMIW epidemic. I like to use MMIW to mean Warriors to be more inclusive of all our relatives.
