But she won’t be…on the millions of ballots already printed. @californiasos_ admits the office got it wrong while listing Pascucci as “no ballot designation” instead of including her profession. Secretary of State Weber blames it on an internal “miscommunication” and “clerical error.” Pascucci joined us on @foxla. She’s asking for election officials to send out an email to registered voters. According to a new ABC/Ipsos poll, 86% of Americans believe President Biden is too old to serve another term. A majority of Americans also think Donald Trump is too old to lead our country. Moreover, 70% of Americans don’t want a Biden/Trump rematch. As a U.S. Senate candidate, a millennial, and a seasoned local journalist, I agree. I’m standing up to say we need fresh faces in leadership. To my knowledge, I’m the only candidate in this race willing to align with the majority of Americans on this issue. We need to consider both term limits for Congress and maximum age limits (we have minimum age limits), especially for a job as important as the leader of the free world. Tears are streaming down my face as I write this because Dave, you’re one of the best ones. I knew Dave since I was a child. His eternal optimism and way of making people feel seen was unmatched. He was the brightest light in the room, maybe other than his beautiful wife, Rebecca. Less than two years ago, at their wedding, Dave proclaimed he was cancer free. I was convinced he had won the war. We all were. In November, he and Rebecca agreed to host a fundraiser for me. Unbeknownst to me, Dave’s cancer had come back with a vengeance. But through the immense pain he was experiencing, and the weakness, he spent hours getting people to show up for me. That’s the man he was. Generous, fiercely supportive, and full of life and love. Did you know the stats are now closer to 1/2 people developing cancer in their lifetime? CAMPAIGN UPDATE ➡️ the CA Secretary of State’s office has admitted to a major mistake that creates a massive disadvantage for my campaign. My ballot designation as a “Local Television Journalist” has been omitted from all ballots printed for this election, replaced with “No Ballot Designation.” It’s a huge deal because voters use the ballot designation to guide them when they cast their vote. I’m going to be frank: This is bad and it doesn’t just affect my campaign, it could impact the overall results of this election. Our team has been dealing with this for a month. The Secretary of State admitted “an unfortunate internal clerical error” and issued a correction via press release and on social media late Friday. That doesn’t fix the harm caused. A couple thoughts on the newly released bipartisan Senate border bill: ✅ It greatly reduces the wait time for processing asylum cases from years to months. It’s a start. Ideally all asylum cases are processed within days or weeks, and before allowing people to enter the U.S. ❌ Less than 20% of the bill is funding the border. We should’ve addressed this long before so the border response isn’t tied to funding of other foreign policy issues. ❌ Some key points are missing, like addressing the beginning of the migration crisis. We can do that by working with other countries to help migrants integrate into the first countries in which they seek refuge. ✅ There is a crisis at the border we need to address now. This is better than the alternative, which is doing nothing. Thank you for having me @newsnation to discuss.
