ONE THOUSAND libraries in primary schools opened in just THREE YEARS by @literacy_trust s incredible #LibrariesforPrimaries campaign! This is an astonishing achievement!! Here celebrating on Tuesday with fellow author @chrissmithstagram and so many of the #LibrariesforPrimaries Team who are putting so much hard work into this amazingly ambitious initiative. The need is great, because 1 in 7 schools have no library… …and the aim is for every single primary school in this country to have a library. So this is urgent, important work, that needs to reach a whole generation of children very quickly. It was such a lovely atmosphere, because everyone involved is so passionate about this, and determined to make it work. In the second picture, I’m with Fiona Evans, who has now left the Literacy Trust, but has done so much for this wonderful campaign… The campaign provides not only much-needed books for schools, but also training in librarian skills and if you want to find out more, you can go to #librariesforprimaries on the NLT website 🎉#everyschoolshouldhavealibrary #❤️📚

Lovely Summer Party kindly hosted by @Hachettechildrens, thrilled to hear @jonadingle talking about the @literacy_trust #librariesforprimaries campaign which has now opened ONE THOUSAND libraries in primary schools… The National Literacy Trust does incredible work in so many areas, literacy in prisons, working with so many children who are two years behind even before they start school…Their research, advocacy and practical campaigns are life changing, and it was wonderful to raise a glass to celebrate their work and their ambition 🎉📚🙌🍾
