Gabby Logan Instagram – I have said that I am not really a runner for a long time. I enjoy the occasional jog but it’s been 20 years since I did a mass participation event.
Then last autumn when we were at the Great North Run @aimee_fuller said to me you should do the @londonlandmarkshalf with your daughter, me and my mum do it.
I thought nothing more of it and then a few weeks later I was offered a place. (I think Aimée might have been up to mischief).
So I said yes and then suggested to @loislogansj that she should do it. And she said yes. I think I was trying to prove that being 50 wasn’t a barrier to pushing myself.
Neither of us were running more than 5km at the time.
I had a meltdown one Sunday shortly afterwards when I struggled to complete a 4km run round the block, I thought of giving up and begged for help here on Instagram. And so many of you were very kind and offered loads of tips and many of you suggested @runna_coach so I got in touch with them and began my programme at the start of January. They have been amazing and the app is brilliant, adjusting my programme and my ambitions as I got quicker and giving great advice. I honestly don’t think I would have run sub 2 hours today without them. We crossed the line in 1.54 and along the way I have seen my 5km and 8km get quicker and enjoyed the interval sessions.
So all I guess what I am saying is never say never. If you say ‘I’m not a runner’, then you probably won’t be.
The @runna_coach app can prepare you for any distance so have a look and if you fancy it use the code GABBY for your first two weeks free. Give it a go 💪🏼
