Ghalib. One play I genuinely wish does exceedingly well. Having said that, I do wish all plays, be they Marathi or non-Marathi, would do well for my love of theater. But “Ghalib” has definitely struck a cord with my heart like no other play.[Saw it twice already]. I had written a detailed post previously (read it in my account->pinned post). So, I won’t be writing anything about the story or the characters. But the play is just so incredibly written and directed by Chinmay Mandlekar and very well executed by Virajas Kulkarni, Gautami Deshpande, Ashiwni Joshi, and Gururaj Avadhani that it’s a treat to watch them perform. The dialogues are the soul of this play. So beautifully written, they feel as if you are listening to a melodious symphony. “Shers” of Ghalib have been diligently placed, keeping in mind the scenes surrounding them. Each scene pushes the story forward, and there are no lags in the smooth flow of the story. There might be a few who question the play’s title and ask why only “Ghalib” and not something else. I would say why not “Ghalib” because the parallels in the title name and characters in the play are effectively established during the course of the play. The set (including the water fountain) has been carefully thought through. The lights and music help with different mood settings to the T. You shouldn’t miss this piece of art if you are an avid play enthusiast. They are performing two shows this weekend: 1)Vile Parle-Dinanath- 4 pm Saturday 22nd June 2) Borivali-Prabhodhankar-4pm-Sunday -23rd June -Saurabh Talpade (NatakVedaMarathiMaanus) ता.क.
