I take JOY in remembering our Ancestors.
We exist and the way we do BECAUSE of them.
Yes we are our OWN SELVES
And ALSO YES We are a part of an interconnected multti generational whole ~ and Its not all easy.
NOTHING IS ALL EASY.
But keeping the music of our musical ancestors alive is ALL JOY!
The Ancient Egyptians believed we all die twice. First, when we take our last breath. Second, when our name is spoken for the last time.
At our ( 2nd ) Annual Atlanta SongVersation shows we we will honor our Ancestors every time!

I got to meet him ONCE and he was SO COOL, and VERY KIND to me.
He spoke a word over my life ~ that, had THANKFULLY proved to be true.

i’m just coming out of a cocoon that i wove back in 2020.
In other words; it was hard leaving home ~ But in the end Im HONORED to be asked By my brother @_shannonsanders to sing our song FLOWERS for Diane Nash and the naming of the square in her honor.
Diane Nash (GOOGLE THE NAME) She paved many of the bricks we walk on today.
I was hugged by 15 civil rights activists all over the age of 80 and loved on so hard.
People enjoyed our song “FLOWERS. I hope Dianne did.
BUT!
all EVERYONE was talking about afterwards ~ was my CHANT “ would the ancestors be pleased”
(featuring @anthonyqdasinger ~ who i met on IG coupel weeks ago if we don’t support each other who will? )
There are SO many more where chants where that came from
(if u came to the Love Letter Show … you know)
including “Born for this mission” (walk thru the fire) 🔥

But for now I’m still healing. I slept the rest of the day away and woke up with puffy eyes and sore feet ~ but it was worth the Struggle.
I guess the rehab of my mind and spirit aren’t complete JUST yet.
I trust divine timing.
BUT FOR DIANE NASH AND THE ELDERS I’LL BRAVE ALL THE COLD AMD THE FIRE … TO BE THERE.

AFRO PUNK WAS TRANSCENDEEEEENNNNT! I began SongVersation: HerStory @afropunk Crying Uncontrollably. I couldn’t speak without crying. The way MY heart is set up ~ I had to explain to the audience Why. And with a short 1 hr show, it ate up time I didn’t have ~ Because the audience comes to hear their favorite songs right? But THIS night ~ for all the reasons I explained to the audience (I wont say all of that here) THIS show, for the first time, I sang for ME. And 45 minutes later, I exited the stageJumping with Joy. LITERALLY? The ups and downs of my life ~ used to REALLY be burdensome ~ But at THIS age, I’m learning to RIDE THE WAVE and Reeeeeallyyyy appreciate who I am and ALL THE WAYS … that I AM. As for the reason for the tears ~ I’d like to share that later ~ when I tell you why my first outfit was ALL. PINK! and not HOT PINK EITHER! lol PINK PINK! I love you all. to everyone who came to SongVersation: HerStory … THANK YOU. AND AS ALWAYS: THANK YOU TO MY TEAM BAND AND CREW. WITH OUT YALL? I met Jake when he asked me to work with him. He sent 8(?) songs before I chose THIS one. called “GOLD”
I invited him from the UK to open the show ~ because I wanted to see what he REALLY does.
And ~ i can only say @iamjakeisaac has IT. hes eloquent. thoughtful. humble (and yes all men loving people: tall and fine)
Most of all, Jake is a CONSUMMATE musician.

~ i thought I was stretching on the rainy beach ~ turns out i was dancing a prayer.
Thought I went to Kauai to dance with the energy turns out l was stretching.
once again, l’ve come home changed — but i wldnt call THIS trip fun.
