This Sunday 5th May at the Queen Elizabeth Hall @southbankcentre @manchestercollective and @sansarachoir will premiere my new piece ‘No. 9’, inspired by Rothko’s painting, “White and Black on Wine”. Very grateful to Manchester Collective @rakhisinghmusic for this commission, and to work with these amazing musicians, to hear my piece brought to life so vividly. I’m thrilled to be a part of Classical Pride this year, a festival showcasing the breadth and diversity of queer artists across classical music! My new work, titled ‘I Let Go’, commissioned by the festival, is set to a text written by a refugee relocated by Classical Pride’s charity partner, Rainbow Railroad. Hear it on Friday 5 July at the @barbicancentre , tickets on sale now #ClassicalPride @rainbowrailroad
I couldn’t be more proud of this 🌹 #ROAR is out on @appletvplus now! Each episode is a world, and I loved every second of seeing this series unfold – from reading the scripts, to initial music concept conversations with Liz and Carly, to seeing the first cuts, sketching ideas, and right through to putting the final touches on the scores for each episode. Thank you to @lakeshorerecords for releasing this OST 🌹 When I read Liz and Carly’s scripts I was instantly enthralled. The surrealist lens of the stories gives access to the rich, complex and joyful range of female identity. It’s not often you get to score that landscape in one series. I loved being able to embrace the scope of the protagonists in my music. I found there was a catharsis in scoring Roar. Liz and Carly are phenomenal creators and story tellers – it was an honour to work with them. Thank you to Tess and Virgil @endeavorcontent 🌹 Music teams are so important and integral to the process. Huge shout out to my amazing #Roar team: Music Editor 👑 @thequeenkwong Lindsay Wright @lndsywrght and Veronika Hanl @veronikahanlmusic for additional music. Thank you also to @julipoto for such beautiful vocals and @annaphoebemusic for stunning violin sounds 🌹 And as ever, to JP for helping steer this ship so amazingly🌹And to Bradley who is the G.

One of the highlights of last year was being approached by Elize de Toit to score her arresting film about witch hunting in 18thC Scotland. Focusing on Lilias Adie, who was accused of practicing witchcraft and fornicating with the devil but died in prison before sentence could be passed. In Adie’s confession she described the devil as having “cold pale skin and cloven-hoofed feet like a cow”. Just this year, there have been growing calls for a legal pardon for the thousands of people persecuted as witches in post-Reformation Scotland, as a drive for posthumous justice. I was honoured to score this film, directed by Elize de Toit Lilias Adie is available to watch on MUBI
