Fifty years ago today — 50! — Bill and Carol drove from Detroit to a courthouse in Toledo and got married. Then they came back home, grabbed cheeseburgers and drank Singapore Slings. And then they went to a gay pride parade in Detroit! Happy Golden Anniversary to my mom and dad who are still the coolest parents ever. May you have another fifty years and another fifty after that. Love you both! Xo
@Usher will soon be inducted into an elite group of musicians who are tapped to perform during halftime at the Super Bowl. But did you know this isn’t the first time he’s graced the hallowed stage? The king of R&B made an appearance during the Black Eyed Peas’ performance in 2011. He joins ABC News’ @KelleyLCarter to discuss his new album, Vegas residency, and preparing for the big game in the latest episode of #IMPACTonHulu — “Usher: ‘My Way’ to the Super Bowl” — streaming now on @Hulu. #usher #football #liljon #halftime
A tease from my sitdown with @usher for @goodmorningamerica! In this segment, we chat about his upcoming Super Bowl performance (though let’s go right ahead and call it #UsherBowl) and who is helping him create his halftime show. #Usher #Yeah #superbowl
Super proud of all of the hard work the team over at Impact has put together! We decided to give you a full special on @usher and not only this upcoming performance but a journey of his incredible rise to excellence and three decade career! I also sat down with @liljon and @jermainedupri to talk about all of the things! It’s currently streaming on @hulu! Thank you @nightline, @abcnewsstudios for everything! #usher #Super Bowl
Announcing my next project … happy to have collaborated on this one … coming to @hulu next month! 🙏🏿❤️ Details in the release below. ****** Andscape, the Black-led Multi-Media brand from Disney & ESPN, announced today their newest documentary feature, Sacred Soil: The Piney Woods School Story, will premiere on HULU February 23, 2024, as part of their programming slate honoring Black History Month. The content studio also debuted the new trailer. The documentary is the directorial feature debut from J.J. Anderson, executive produced by Kelley L. Carter along with J.J. Anderson, Marc Jordan and Jason Aidoo, and produced by State of the Art’s Mecia Hollar p.g.a and Laura Avila Tacsan, p.g.a. Sacred Soil: The Piney Woods School Story is a documentary film set against the culturally historical backdrop of one of America’s oldest Black boarding schools. This film amplifies the journeys of several Piney Woods School students and staff members, providing a never-before-seen window into the ever-evolving, complex layers of the school and its students. Vividly, yet beautifully Sacred Soil: The Piney Woods School Story captures the emotional, physical, and mental tolls required to be young, Black, and educated in America by honoring the students’ perspectives of themselves and their school.
I always try to find the positivity in even the most saddest of occasions. Struggling here. To really know me is to know how much I talked about my Uncle Cecil. My mom’s baby brother. My babysitter. My uncle who would — and did — trip new boyfriends when they walked in a room and wrestle them down to the ground … he was always so playful. And while he never tripped my husband when he first met him, he told me he liked him immediately and could tell he was a good human. He prayed over us because he was a believer. And the day after my wedding — and strangely enough I only realized I had this voice mail earlier this morning — he left a beautiful message for us where he prayed some more. I have several voice mails from him. I’m so glad I saved them. In our last convo — which was last week before he had a massive heart attack and was on life support for the last week — he told me “… I’m coming out to LA to visit you and my nephew!” I’m devastated that we can’t make that happen. Uncle Cecil died this morning and I know I’m rambling but I want you all to know about my sweet, silly uncle who loved karate and Sugar Ray Leonard and was always the silliest person in the room. I’ll miss you immensely, Cecil. ❤️
