CONGRATS TO THE WRITERS!!! For 148 Days you showed up and walked and pounded pavement, fighting for a just and fair contract!! We have been happy to walk beside you! There’s so much to say but first… hugs. #wgastrong

New Tinder profile: Doubles. As your Strike Captains, we try and make sure picketers have seamlessly smooth days. Your morning can focus on advocating for your rights safely and having resources at your fingertips to get your messaging out. If we do our part right, you’ll never know we were there. And yet these are the faces I make in the thick of it. If you know me, you know me. And some days the camera catches it. You’re welcome, universe.

It’s a new Day… For 118 Days members of SAG-AFTRA, along with the continued support and solidarity of our sister unions, held the line. For the majority of that time I was stationed at Disney Studios in Burbank, CA. For soooooo many of those days I arrived at 7:30a to meet my fellow Strike Captains and staff where we unloaded the van, set up tents and provisions, put out the signs and… moved out the cones. The simple orange pieces of plastic connected by bright yellow tape that protected the simple picketer. I know there will be so much more to say in the coming days and weeks. But today I again started this NEW DAY by returning to Disney at 7:30. The streets were still. The lines were empty. And where the cones were still holding watch, waiting to protect the picketer, the picketer who need not return after a combined total of 192 days. They did us well

This spoke to me. It cried to me. It held me. I’ve forgotten now where I captured this screenshot but it feels very appropriate since the holidays are officially here. This time of year – in the quiet, the alone, as well as the crowded, the merry – tends to tap into unspoken emotions. Unexplored emotions. Or emotions that through necessity have been unaddressed and now are clawing their way out. And this year has been a roller coaster. Lives have been altered. Friends have been lost. What was solid ground has given way to new territory. This year the entire creative industry joins in this trauma. It is hurting and will continue to long after these holidays end. And so many times it is not immediately apparent… But it’s ok to be merry. It’s ok to find joy! To laugh! To engage with new strangers in the hope they might turn into new friends! And my hope to you, to every one of you, is that you find that person who captures your rain to turn it into nourishment for your flower and grow.

We are still here. This is not yet over. As the Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) nears the finish line, the Actors are getting closer. Our negotiating committee, after 81 days on the picket line, has finally been approached by the Studio Producers (the AMPTP) to sit down and resume talks. So on Monday, Oct 2, Day 81 of our strike action, maybe they’ll listen. Yes we are exhausted. Yes we have been daily mentally and physically challenged. Yes we fucking want to get back to work – work we LOVE and about which we are PASSIONATE. But until our committee wins the contract that so many many deserve, we stand strong. We are buoyed by the support of our sister unions. We are lifted by the donations and care of those strangers who are now friends. We continue to hit the pavement with swelling numbers. We hold the line. We hold it for those who lost their livelihoods. We hold it for those who lost their feeling of self-worth. We hold it for the next generation who, against all odds, have a passion for art and storytelling in their hearts and need to follow that dream. And we hold it for those who lost their homes, their insurance, their relationships, their everything, who just couldn’t make it here with us at the end…we’ll cross the finish line holding your spirits. We didn’t come this far to only make it this far. One day longer, One day stronger. #sagaftrastrong

Reason #4892 I love Mondays. The week is WIDE open, a blank slate, and surprises are bound to happen. So if I have to still be on a picket line 140 days after the AMPTP talks failed with the WGA and 67 days after they left SAG-AFTRA without a contract, I want to dance with other passionate creatives and just look STOOPID. And AWESOME. It’s what any good Captain would do. I’ve grown to love the people I’ve met here. Got to know their stories. And maaaan, I’m happy to let the guard down and be surprised by the joy. @sagaftra @wgawest

Because you didn’t know you needed to see the entire 1:20 version. Surrounded by these amazing performers, writers, humans made my birthday day even fuller. I’m not sure how I can begin to thank them properly. The love they showed me was hard to comprehend. My default is to lift others, not necessarily be lifted. So on the picket line on Day 82 in front of Disney, early before the crowds came, we lifted. We celebrated. We danced. May we have 1 or 2 more in us before they turn the lights back on.
