Laura Bailey Instagram – Manchester in December for @CHANELOfficial Métiers d’art was a trip to remember – a deep dive into the style and culture of the city.
The extraordinary show on Thomas St in the Northern Quarter, which played out to a soundtrack of made-in-Manchester classics from New Order to Soft Cell, and attracted a host of fashion, film and sports stars, felt cinematic, immersive and poetic.
I dreamt of wearing the looks (favourites in my stories), but was also inspired by the energy of the catwalk and the city – the rock and roll slouch, the tomboy nonchalance of the accessorising, the slept-in eyeliner – as well as, of course, the warmth of the Manchester welcome.
Northern Soul and a very British rebel spirit infuses the ever-evolving codes of the House of #CHANEL in a collection currently beaming rainbow bright (and acid green and Parisienne black leather attitude ) from the windows of @Harrods in Knightsbridge. Even passing by on my bicycle yesterday, just a glimpse of a favourite dress made me want to cancel plans and go out dancing. CHANEL is with the band.
