Quand on va à l’hôpital pour sa mammographie annuelle, le processus dure plusieurs heures. Des heures qui peuvent sembler interminables tant l’angoisse est grande. Dans les 9 dernières années, combien de fois ai-je imaginé le docteur m’annonçant ces nouvelles qu’on espère ne plus jamais entendre… Et cette année aurait dû être encore plus éprouvante parce que j’ai maintenant un petit être qui dépend de moi. Mais je suis plutôt arrivée à l’hôpital avec cette belle sérénité qui m’a habitée tout au long de ma grossesse. Je ne dis pas qu’aucune mauvaise pensée n’a traversé mon esprit… mais je pensais surtout qu’il y a 4 mois (jour pour jour), je donnais naissance à mon Charlie à quelques mètres de là (au GLEN, la maternité est juste à côté de la clinique du sein). Puis tous les bonheurs de la dernière année se bousculaient dans ma tête… apprendre qu’on allait avoir un bébé alors que j’avais si longtemps écarté cette possibilité, tant j’avais peur qu’être enceinte puisse déclencher un autre cancer, aimer plus que jamais après des années de couple difficiles, avoir la plus belles des grossesses et, ultimement, avoir un bébé en santé. Ce matin là dans la salle d’attente, je me suis aussi réconciliée avec mon corps. Je lui ai demandé pardon de lui en avoir voulu parce que mon sein gauche n’avait jamais grossi, ni produit de lait. Alors je partage cette photo pour ne plus oublier que ce petit sein est peut-être ce qu’il y a de plus beau sur mon corps et cette cicatrice, définitivement ce qu’il y a de plus significatif. p.s. Cover girl rose🌸 Je savais que ce moment s’en venait depuis quelques semaines et je l’attendais avec un mélange d’impatience, de bonheur et de stress… mais maintenant qu’il est là, je suis remplie d’une émotion à laquelle je ne m’attendais pas. Je vous mentirais si je ne vous disais pas que j’ai les yeux pleins d’eau en regardant cette couverture du @mag_clindoeil et en repensant à tout ce que j’ai vécu depuis que le cancer du sein est entré dans ma vie. Il y a eu du moche et beaucoup de moments difficiles, mais j’ai aussi vécu tellement de beau et des moments de grande joie. Le cancer m’a appris que notre vie peut chambouler du jour au lendemain, qu’on ne doit pas attendre pour réaliser nos rêves, que vieillir est un privilège, qu’on a tous une force intérieure insoupçonnée et qu’il n’y a rien de plus beau que l’amour. Je m’en voudrais de ne pas dire que le cancer m’a aussi enseigné l’importance de s’impliquer, d’aider et de se soutenir entre femmes. Si je partage mon histoire aujourd’hui, c’est parce que @lotus_mtl m’a un peu sauvé la vie en me partageant la sienne, et en étant là pour moi alors que je ne savais même pas comment commencer à accepter que j’étais malade. Depuis, j’essaye d’être présente pour celles qui traversent cette épreuve et d’apporter un peu d’espoir. J’espère que c’est ce que cette image apporte; de l’espoir, de la lumière, de la vie! J’espère qu’elle montre aussi que nos cicatrices, extérieures ou intérieures, peuvent être ce qu’il y a de plus beau en chacun de nous. I met Dapper Dan !!!! I had an amazing month of May! Sooo busy, but filled with what keeps me so passionate about work… and life! My most surreal moment was definitely meeting @dapperdanharlem, a man I admire greatly because of his incredible story and the tremendous impact he’s had in recent fashion history! I’ve had the chance to teach about Dapper Dan in my Fashion History course at @collegelasalle & for a Fashion in Hip Hop workshop I built for @fwdmovements … and every time, the students eyes light up! I think that what speaks to us is the idea that no matter where you come from, if you are passionate and have faith in yourself, you can achieve anything! That is of course one of the things that drew me to his story… but what resonates with me above all is his vision of style (slide 4). To Dapper Dan fashion is magic because it can transform the way people see you, feel about you… and I couldn’t agree more! I’ve said it many times, to me fashion is far from superficial – that’s THE reason why @toutlemondeshabille exists – and it makes me so happy that someone I admire so much feels the same way! Meeting an idol can be tricky because sometimes you prefer the image you had in your head, but let me tell you that he is beyond what I had imagined! Kind, authentic, passionate, inspirational and oh soo fresh!
